After a while, finally my boyfriend and I decided what to do on our next holidays. First we wondered about a trip through many cities in Europe, but unfortunately we will only have about one week and half, so instead we will visit France and Spain.
We will get in Paris by plane at October 7th and spend 3 days there.
Then we want to go to Valley Loire to visit Chambord Chateau and perhaps other castles (any suggestion?). We will stay somewhat 2 days in that area.
My question is: how to get in Barcelona from Valley Loire by train? Do we must go back to Paris and depart from there?
We would like to do Le Petit Train Jaune journey too. Is this available on October?
Could you please tell me the best route for get to Barcelona from France and do Le petit Train Jaune in the process?
And...is the interrail one country pass (France) the best option?

Hi!
To get to Chateau Chambord, go to Blois on the main line to Tours (train from Paris Austerlitz with no extra reservation costs). From Blois there should by bus shuttles to Chambord - but I do not know if they are still running in Ocotber... :|
In principle I would have a look which castles are close to the (Paris -) Orléans - Blois - Tours - Nantes railway since it will be then easier to reach them in case there are no buses.
The best way to get to Spain then, including the Petit Train Jaune, is to take a night train either to Latour de Carol or to Perpignan. These all stop in Orléans.
Have a look here for the details (including the Petit Train Jaune on the way to Barcelona) :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-barcelona (click on the night train to get the timings for Orléans).
You could do all this (Paris - Loire Valley, Loire Valley - Orléans and Orléans - Petit Train Jaune - french border) with a 3 day one country pass for France and then only need an extra ticket for the segment in Spain to Barcelona.
If you go with the night train to Perpignan and then up to Latour de Carol you will need a ticket for Latour de Carol - Barcelona which is 9,80€.
If you go to Latour de Carol with the night train and then down to Perpignan you will need a ticket for Portbou - Barcelona which is 11€/14,90€ depending on the train category.
And if you want to support our work here at railcc dont forget to buy your passes at our partner at :arr: https://rail.cc/en/search-train-route ;)
