Hello,
Why is a train NJ 235 from Vienna to Milan not running? I'd like to buy cheaper ticket on that train, but I can't. Because onlý the train NJ 40233 running, which is more expensive because drives over Bologne. It's a longer track than NJ 235 does.
Thank you in advance for answer.
Best regards.

Sadly my psychic powers are not working so I can't tell which date you want.
235 runs to Vienna not from it - and it's an operational number covering more than one train section, each of which has it's own reservation number. From Vienna 40233 is the reservation number for the section from Vienna to Milan. The routing via Bolgna has nothig to do with prcie diffeence, Nightjet fares vary by demand, the same ticket will be a different price on different dates, and will get more expensive clsoer to the travel date. If you want cheap try Flixbus- who have also vary fares by demand. And so do the airlines.
But you've posted this under Interrail/Eurrail so presumably you are using a pass, in which case the fare doesnlt apply at all, it's teh supplement for the bed, and that isn't based on route at all.

Hi,
Sorry me, maybe I'm a little bit blunt, but this page: https://nachtzug.net/en/milan-vienna/
says something similar (so my mistake, I didn't notice different number NJ 233). But still, when I searched for train connections day by day until the deadline (which is also an interesting question why, but let's face it, winter in the Alps can be surprising) I didn't come across any with the NJ designation except for NJ 40233 and even on ÖBB nightjet.com it didn't even accept Milano, Rogoredo or even the starting or destination station La Spezia Centrale.
And if you need to know a specific date, then around November 15th or 14th NJ 233 from Vienna Central Station to Milan Rogoredo and November 16th or 17th from Milano Rogoredo to Wien, Hauptbahnhof.
Thank you for your early answer.
Best regards.

The reservation system uses 40233 - whatever it say on the driver's paperwork for the longer train as far as Villach.
La Spezia is summer only, in Winter it only runs to Milano city centre (and not Centrale, it's Lambrate and Porta Garibaldi.)
Tickets are available both nights, for some reason the Saturday night takes longer but is less popular so the prices are lower.

Ok, finally understandable answer for me, which I've waited a bit, because I just went by this train in a spring months (march, april and may), never winter. Maybe it also connects university city (like Vienna, Graz, Bologna, Milano) in one train for students. That would be a logic and you remedy me if I mistake.
Thank you for your time, Steve.
Best regards.
