Hey people, hope everything is cool.

First of all, i want to say that railcc is one of the best rail sites i've ever seen, various range of the informations that helped me a lot, so i want to send big THANK YOU to the board.

I got Interrail Global pass (15days) and for september i planned this very interesting route but I would really like to hear your opinion, suggestion and possible problems with connections, reservations and hole city2city idea.

06.9. BELGRADE - VENICE (Direct night train via Ljubljana, couchette option, dep 15:20 - arr 07:20)
07.9. VENICE - ROME (Looking for the best connection, there are many direct alternatives before noon to Rome, night @ some Rome hostel)
08.09. ROME - MUNICH (Taking direct CityNightLine to Munich, couchette)
09.09. MUNICH (Night @ hostel)
10.09. MUNICH - PARIS (Taking TGV before noon and arriving there around noon will be perfect, reserved 2,3days earlier, or maybe 10 days earlier to catch 6E price would be smarter move?? )
11.09. PARIS (Night @ hostel)
12.09. PARIS - AMSTERDAM (Taking direct CityNightLine,couchette)
13.09. AMSTERDAM (Night @ hostel,or maybe Utrech still thinking about that option)
14.09. AMSTERDAM (Taking CityNightLine to Copenhagen)
15.09. COPENHAGEN (Chill all day and then taking train to Malme (best option??) and right after that i will try to catch BerlinNightExpress (of course previously reserved because this one is risky or maybe there is BNExpress through Copenhagen?? )
16.09. BERLIN (Night @ hostel)
17.09. BERLIN (Nigh @ hostel)
18.09. BERLIN - PRAGUE (taking morning daily train, advice? in the evening CityNightLine to Zurich)
19.09. ZURICH (in the evening taking night train via Zagreb to Belgrade)
20.09. Still travelin to Belgrade...
21.09.

Hej,

thank you very much - I'm glad you like our site, however we're still enhancing it and trying to collect more info regarding train travel. So if you want you can help as well by adding new locations, reservation infos, train photos etc... :)

Concerning your route (I hope you bought your ticket in our partner to support the work of railcc), in general no big troubles except Paris - Amsterdam :arr: no night train on this route!

Beograd - Venezia :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/belgrade-to-venice
Venezia - Roma is best by the hourly AV Frecciargento which require a 10€ reservation but are the fastest option. Alternative cheaper connections are slower :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/venice-to-rome or think about a night train?
Roma - München :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/rome-munich-cnl-484/34
München - Paris ...there is a direct TGV early in the morning, other connections require a change of trains in Stuttgart. The international ICE/TGV connections GER - FRA require a 10€ reservation, try to book as early as possible. Maybe at a station in Italy or in Beograd already. :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/munich-to-paris
Paris - Amsterdam :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-amsterdam
Amsterdam - Kobenhavn https://rail.cc/en/night-train/amsterdam-copenhagen-cnl-40457/10 Try to book as early as possible (online...)
Kobenhavn - Malmö ...there are frequent free trains over the Oresund brige, all 20 minutes.
Malmö - Berlin :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/malmoe-berlin-en-301/57 ...they are quite flexible, if there is much demand extra carriages are in use, however it is of course a good idea to book some days in advance. The problem is that in the Netherlands they will charge you an extra fee at the counter so try to get the reservation in Paris already.
Berlin - Praha :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/berlin-to-prague
Praha - Zürich :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/prague-zurich-cnl-458/39
Zürich - Beograd :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/zurich-belgrade-en-415/160 I recommend to book a couchette or sleeper and change in Zagreb to the regular 2nd class coach.

Beograd - Venezia - Cool
Venezia - Roma - I will take the fasters option,any hostel recommendations <25E ?
Roma - Munich - CNL, cool
Munich - Paris - CNL (if i ride with Thalys on the next one) or morning direct TGV, so there is chance to book it for 6e, for example 5days before?

Paris - Amsterdam - this one is big glitch, want to avoid riding all day long, any tips about Thalys and reservations, i know they are really expensive

Amsterdam - Copenhagen - CNL, cool
Copenhagen - Malme - tip for reservation? will be ok to book it maybe early in the morning that day?
Malme - Berlin - Berlin Night Express, will take your advice to book it before Amsterdam, thanks
Berlin - Praha - cool
Praha - Zurich - CNL,cool
Zurich - Belgrade - cool

I will definitely pay attention to added features and try to be valuable member with quality content, especially after this splendid rail trip, no worries 8)

Hi.
You can never preview if a train is fully booked or not.
I think the limited seats for Interrail travellers on the direct TGV Munich - Paris will be already sold 5 days in advance.
By the way it is EUR 10 for this trip.

Paris - Amsterdam: either the solutions we mentioned on the website, or you will have to pay for the THALYS. :o

Copenhagen - Malmö: free trains every 20 minutes like Flow already said. No need to reserve.

Hostel bookings and rankings: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]

I will consider daily TGV (Munich - Paris) - alternative is CNL or daily Thalys Paris-Amsterdam, but if i compare prices i think that TGV can be cheaper especially if i catch interrail limited seat. Even without that pass seat discount what do u suggest TGV or THA (their site is really fuzzy, cant find exact prices for IR holders)?

EDIT: I think that i will have to change a little bit route because of the night trains and to avoid THA, so Rome-Paris i see that there is direct night train,EuroNight and then after a few days TGV to Munich daily, and then after a few days, finally CityNightLine from Munich to Amsterdam, i think this is quite good rotation :D what's your experience with route from Italy to France?

Last but not least, i didnt find that ferry conection between Sweden - Germany (Malme-Berlin with BerlinNightExpress) is free with Interrail pass on this list https://rail.cc/en/interrail-ferry/sweden/se but nltrainter wrote here https://rail.cc/en/interrail-free-ferries/f6657 that it is? Basicaly on that route Amsterdam-Copenhagen-Malme-Berlin i have only one ferry to use, right?

Thanks for replies.

Hi!

- Direct TGV and ICE Germany <> France are branded Alleo and require a 10€ reservation. There is no distinction between 6€/18€ reservations as with domestic TGV services.
:arr: https://rail.cc/en-type-country/ice-alleo/db-alleo/64
:arr: https://rail.cc/en-type-country/tgv-alleo/sncf-alleo/172

- Thalys reservation costs :arr: https://rail.cc/en-type-country/thalys/thalys-thy/41 Paris - Amsterdam is the most expensive category, reservation is 33€

- Kobenhavn - Malmö: There are frequent Oresundtag trains :arr: https://rail.cc/en-type-country/%C3%B6resundst%C3%A5g/dsbf-ot/70 which are free with InterRail and run every 20 minutes.
- Malmö - Berlin: Direct night train Berlin Night Express :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/malmoe-berlin-en-301/57 This train is conveyed on a ferry between Trelleborg and Sassnitz but you only need the reservation for the train, the ferry is included.
The free ferry mentioned by nltrainer is between Helsingor (Denmark) and Helsingborg (Sweden).

Yes, on the route Amsterdam - Kobenhavn - Malmö - Berlin you will only use one ferry, that is between Trelleborg and Sassnitz on the route of the Berlin Night Express as explained above.

I have a few more questions,

The international TGV/ICE connections FRA - GER which requires a 10€ reservation and that reservation is for both trains (since we have change from TGV to ICE)

Amsterdam - Kobenhavn - Try to book as early as possible (online...) I will try to book it asap but is 2 days earlier enough?

Hi!

- Where do you change from TGV to ICE? I assume in Germany - then you do not need a reservation for the ICE.

- Two days in advance could be a little bit risky for the CNL; it also depends on the day of the week, for Friday and Sunday it will be too late probably, but also the other days of the week can be risky during high season.
I just checked for this Tuesday evening and there are still regular seats and 6bed and 4bed couchettes available :)

I got strange and high price for Berlin Night Express @international ticket window in Belgrade, they cant even reserve seat for interrailers (there isnt option) so was it often ? Maybe is better option to reserve it in Italy,France or even in Munich?

Hi.
If you want to book a 6-bed couchette on this route, you can do it with the Interrail discount online here on the recommended website.
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
Otherwise do it some when on your trip. Should be possible in Munich. :)

Guys,

Im still wondering about one more thing and that is about reservations for 6bed couchette in City NightLine trains (PARIS-MUNICH, MUNICH-AMST, AMST-BERLIN) ? Will be safe to leave it open and to try to book them day before each departure or early in the morning that day ? I know its crazy but want to consider this option as well before adventure and really dont know informations are they already fully booked several days in advance etc...

Hi.
You always have to find your personal mix ... and yes ... just try it. Don't book too much in advance. All these CNL routes you can also do by free day trains. So if there is no more bed left, just stay one more night in a hostel and continue the next day by day train...

Hey, yes i know that there is always daily alternative, but i tought that someone has information about whats the best option (how much days before) for booking 6seat couchetter for that CNL lines. Im still thinking about is it loco to try to book for example Amsterdam-Berlin or Amsterdam-Copenhagen 3,4 days before?

There is no value saying that 3-4 days in advance, 1 day in advance or xxx days in advance will guarantee you a free couchette. The only thing to say is that on Friday and Sunday night, night trains easily get full.

Like Peter said there is no general rule for when to buy reservations. If you have to get a certain connection it is smart to get it some time in advance, otherwise you could change your schedule thanks to the flexibility of the InterRail ticket.

I just checked for Amsterdam - Berlin and Amsterdam - Kobenhavn for tomorrow and there are still places available in most categories.
