Hello everyone,
I am trying to travel from Brussels to Istanbul by train. Every step looks good until Bucharest. At Bucharest, I am asked to take the Bosphorus train but it doesn't run in low season, when I want to take it.
How can I get from Bucarest to Istanbul without taking the Bosphorus ?
I saw multiples options:
- Coaches from Bucarest to dimitrovgrad but I can't find any online.
- Stop at Vienna and instead of going to Bucharest, go to Sofia and take the train to Istanbul. But I can't find any trains from Vienna to Sofia.
Do you guys have any tips ?
Thanks a lot

I see one connection a day (starting 11:38) from Wien to Sofia at Scotty (www.oebb.at) and www.bahn.com. Only not without probably complicated changes.

You are trying to find your way across a continent, including countries where you don't speak the language and one which even has a different way of writing. Yet you can't find the number one website to answer this question in english. This is not a good start. And you don't seem to have realised that the Sofia train does not run non stop to Istanbul and you can get on at other places.
You won't find a usable service from Vienna to Sofia because the logical route is via Serbia and their rail network is basically closed to international traffic. Officially there are huge rebuilding projects but anyone who follows european political news will know the real reason.
I doubt you will make this journey, or will regret trying, but the real info is at www.seat61.com
