Hi,
I'm trying to plan summer-hollidays with my 14-year-old son from Berlin to Marathon. (First week in september.)
I spent hours for finding the trail-ways, the ferry....
Now it seems to be uncopeable to find/buy the last-way-tickets in Greece between Igoumenitsa and Marathon.
Can anyone help me?
Hopeful & kind regards,
Floria

Halloechen!

Public transport is Greece is poor, there are few KTEL buses from Igoumenitsa to Athens so check with the ferry company if they have a direct connection bus. Athens to Marathon would take 1 hour in a taxi but over 2½ hours by public transport, and it is not easy. The fastest public transport route is by metro M3 to Pallini then bus 314 from Gephyra, which is actually the bridge over Pallini station but giving both stops the same name is too difficult for Athens transport! Bus 314 actually starts from the bus station outisde of Plakentias Metro station, which may be easier but the joruney will be slower. Bus 314 goes to Nea Makri for connection to Bus 310 - which does not run during the middle of the day. The Athens region transport website is https://www.oasa.gr/en/ - this is not good, the network map at the bottom is only train/metro/tram in the city, the regional map is not finished and does not include Marathon! But the timetables for the bus routes are available, use the name Marathonas.
