Köln HBF=main station is in DE=Germany, not Swiss. You will there take the overnight train to Swiss-via several other stops.
There is NO precodure-you just get off train 1, look for a screen where trains depart and find platform for train 2=this is a combo of NightJet and InterCity-you MUST have a REServation of some kind for it, and you go there-on that platform will also be a shield that shows where your booked car will be in that train.
Expect delays, this is Germany. DO check again timings some 7-10 days before the trip-changes are very much possible, even perhaps that train 2 goes from another station.
Trains are NOT planes, also if you are maybe used to RENFE in ESpana- its all much more daft simple and made fool proof. Train changes, even at that big estacion can be done in 4-5 mins if you are used to it and know the way how to do it. I´ve done that many times
