Hi All
New here....looks like a great forum for rail advice!
We are going to Switzerland in January for 6 days. We will require 3 days of travel. We would like to use Swiss rail from 1) Zurich airport to Zermatt, 2) Zermatt to St Moritz, 3) St Moritz to Zurich airport. It is not 3 consecutive days, it would be day 1, 5 & 6.
We are looking at buying an EURail/InterRail ticket. But are unsure if this fully covers us for the 3 train journeys or if it just gives us a discount and we still need to book tickets. And if this reserves seats. We already have the Glacier express booked separately.
Looking for your advice
Thanks
Ray

Yes, except for trains called Glacier express or Bernina express. A pass for only 3 trips looks expensive to me. I think (but didn’t really research) buying 3 tickets separately is cheaper. Calculate prices at www.sbb.ch. You should also consider Swiss Travel pass (only for the country) or Graubünden pass (only for the kanton). For the last one you have to buy ticktes between Zürich and Bad Ragaz (kanton border) separately.

1.there are way better and more lively forums- mostly community.eurail. It has all your Qs already answered
2.this Graubdn pass does NOT cover, of course, trips to/fro Zermatt-and the distance you have to pay with sky-high normal fares in CH gives astronomical cost
3.one does NOT need to RES seats in CH (and the idea that trains are ´sold out/full´ is foreign silly- but it means you may have to stand for a while when its really busy. Except these special tourist rip-off trains with controlled seating. Most of these trains also have normal cars for everyone=same views.
4.special note: you did not state nationality and names EU/INter: many Brits seem to think they are out of EU (also silly) and thus cannot use InterRail: thats also nonsense. InterRail is for ANYone living in EUR-islands and continent, as it limits the days of use in home-country to 2=for going out+in.
