It sounds weird but on many days until december, there is a SNCF-bus connection between Paris Gare d'Austerlitz and Briançon. (A Interrail reservation will start at 4€). Departure Paris 20:30. Arrival Briançon 08:00. Bus number 64007.

Enjoy your ride :)

Not weird, just a little unusual. The train isn't running on those dates so this is simply the replacement bus (SEV in German). The question si why isnlt the train running? I havenlt got time ot plough through Google but the answer will be either night time track engineering work (which is unlikely to be the whole length so why isn't it only partialy replaced?) or that so few people want the train it's no longer worth running. The timetable after the December change date isn't ready yet but this could be a warning that the train will be withdrawn on at least 4 nights each week next year.
