The train NJ40490 is direct cars to Amsterdam which run attached to train NJ490 as far as Nürnberg where they are then moved onto NJ420 for the rest of the journey. For passengers booked in those cars it is a direct journey (and it is theoretically possible to sleep through at Nürnberg) but it often confuses various internet sites! The departure indicators at Vienna may show it as NJ490 to Hamburg, the Amsterdam cars will be at the rear of the train.
