Hi, is anyone actually on this site? We need information on how to book an overnight train cabin which has sleeping for two (2) people and a toilet. Thanks, Mike - from Australia

No, most of the time there isn't. This is a forum where questions get answered by volunteers who check in randomly, usually during european after-work hours. It's not Google. And if you coulnd't find www.nightjet.com you aren't likely to find Paris! Had you found it you would have seen the message:

Pause of some Nightjet lines due to construction work

Due to extensive construction work in Germany and France, some Nightjet connections cannot be offered between 12 August and 25 October 2024. The connections affected are Vienna - Paris, Berlin - Paris and Berlin - Brussels. From 28 October, all routes will be offered again as scheduled.

Hi, thanks - what might you recommend? Rental Car or Air flight?

Have you done any research? Berlin and Paris are in different countries and to drive between them involves crossing Belgium. Car rental companies don't always allow vehicles to be taken out of the country and if they do there are extra costs for extra insurance (and extra costs for automatic gearboxes which Aussies tend to expect). And on top of that they will expect you to return it to the country you got it from. Except for the big internationals, who might return it for you -but you pay extra rental for the days it takes to do that and the cost of the driver!

There are dozens of different day time train connections each day between Berlin and Paris, but you need to be careful because the most "efficient" have tight connections which require experience of using european trains, or have viable connections but can't be bought as one ticket (your orignal posts suggested that you will want travel tickets not just reservations to go with a Eurail pass). Picking through those issues there is a departure from Berlin to Karlsruhe on Sunday 1st September at 09:26 with a more realistic 22 minute connection into a Paris train which arrives there at 18:16. Tickets currently start around €100.

Or you could use the Berlin-Zurich Nightjet as far as Offenburg (arrive 05:45 Monday morning) which has 92 minutes connection into a fast train to Paris arriving 09:35 - but fares will be higher because this mixes booking systems.

Try using www.bahn.com. Enter BERLIN and PARIS (don't try guessing exact station names) and as you do that a second line of selectors should appear, click on "Transfer time" and select 15 minutes - this will block the very short connections and give you more chance of actually making the connection. Any train numbers with prefix EST or TGV are not in the German system so fares are more complicated to work out.

Not always, and not with the same level of Sparpreis early booking discount as an international ICE.
