Hi
I'm off in a few weeks with my sister, and we realised most of the trains we're planning on taking are night/special trains with reservation required. However, we found that on xxxx (edit: link deleted as we really don't recommend this website for several reasons!) website you can purchase reservations for these trains online, in advance (as long as you catch a certain train at a certain time) but the costs of these are much lower than we've previously read from other blogs/forums. Are we missing something? And if we buy these reservations, is that all that we will need on top of the interrail pass? Also, if we have the 'reservation' and the pass, I am assuming we have a 'seat/bed' on a train, ie/ we don't need to book a couple of days in advance once we arrive in a certain place?

Thanks for any help!
Heather

Hi Heather

You're right. You only need your interrail ticket and an appropriate reservation for the night/special trains. I'm sure, if you give us the train number, we could help you with the reservations. (and have a look to that: https://rail.cc/en/train-type)

This confused me a bit (maybe my bad english):

If it is recommended to book hostels in advance?

Thankyou!
I was thinking of another time, when we were told we would have to book reservations/seats on special trains a couple of days in advance, if that makes more sense? Haha your english is probably better than mine!

thanks again :)

It depends on when you travel and where. For example, In the summer time I would book as early as possible in case of TGV-Trains, because the seats for interrail reservations are limited and a lot of people want them. I think in the most cases it's okay, when you book the reservation a week in advance.

Hi ...

If you want to support our project and not only a big and anonymous company, buy Interrail via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] :)

Here is an overview of the reservation fees you have to pay for night trains travelling with Interrail. We are always updating them:
