I have 1st Class group Eurail Pass. Do we need to reserve seats against this pass on train no. IC143 Intercity from Amsterdam Centraal to Berlin HBF? In Eurail website, it is showing reservation charges while in the Rail Company site, it is saying reservation is not possible on this train. Please clarify.

whether you NEED reservations depends on how many are travelling and the date. Normally they are optional but the Dutch impose compulsory reservations on trains to Germany during summer - but this train does not run for around 6 weeks in July and August. Berlin will be busy/ very busy from mid June to mid July due to the Euros 24 football championships the final is in Berlin on 1th July.

DB open reservations around 180 days in advance so for dates in September or beyond you are too early.

use https://int.bahn.de/en , fill in journey, date and time, click 1st class, then click the slider next to "Book seat only" (which should go green) then click the red Search button. Ignore anything with stupid connection at Berlin Spandau to get to Hbf 2 minutes faster!!!
