Hi there!

What is the latest info on bus services within Greece? Since the international train conncetions are down, I suppose the local trains aren't running as well?!

What about Bus conncetions from Athens to Pratas? I'll be coming to Athens from Istanbul by bus I guess, but right now I'm afraid to get stuck in Athens without any chance get towards Pratas.

From Pratas however the Minoan Line seems to be operational. Their webinterface yielded trips from Pratas to Venice on August 15th and other days. :D
Would be lovely returning via Athens, Pratas, Venice, otherwise I would have to return again via Sofia, Budapest, Vienna. But since that is my incoming route I'd prefer the outgoing route to be different.

THANK YOU so much for any information and hint regard current travel possibilites within Greece.

I tried to find most of the related forum postings throuh the forum search and google. However, only few bore recent timestamps, so I hope I got everything covered.

Please just rply or send me a direct message.
again, THANKS!!!

Hi!

I just read the other day about bus replacement operated by OSE between Athens and Patras; the timings are as follows:

Athens dep 0602 | 0802 | 1102 | 1602 | 1802
Kiato dep 0737 | 0955 | 1237 | 1745 | 1945

Athens - Kiato is by OSE suburban trains, coming from Athens you have to change trains in Ana Liosia. Kiato - Patras is by buses, travel time Athens - Kiato ~1h15, Kiato - Patras ~2h

There are also some express buses Athens - Patras without any intermediate stop, leaving Athens at 1300 and 1500 (I assume either from the train station or the main bus station but cant provide details), taking ~2h45

awsm. THAT was a quick reply! :)
1h15 from Athens to Kiato and another 2hrs from Kiato to Patra sounds very nice.
So I could leave Athens e.g. at 8.02 am get to Kiato somewhat around 9.15 and than take the bus from Kiato leaving at 9.55?
Can you also tell me which lines (especially whicht Directions) I'd have to take? Can I look it up on the web?

thanks! ;)
Florian

anyone else maybe an info on the ticket prices or the agency that is offering these express buses?

Hej,

this is the schedule of the Proastiakos suburban network of Athens: :arr: http://trainose.gr/attachments/article/158/proastiakos.pdf

On the bottom of the page you have the trains Athens (Αθήνα) - Ano Liosia (Άνω Λιόσια), on the top you have the connecting services from Ano Liosia (coming from the airport) to Kiato (Κιάτο).

The express buses are operated by OSE as well, so you should be able to use InterRail as well.

THESE expr buses are by OSE-but there are regular half hourly normal KTEL (thus payable) buses ATH (the busstation for west=Peloponnesus-itsin every guidebook and any hostel will know+metro stop-you really do not have to know everything now) to Patra. Most ferry-comapnies have their own buses bringing you from a covenient point in ATH to right beside their ferry (there are quite a lot in Patra and they can be miles apart)-check their website. Kiato is just a halt with nothing outside-that is where the money ran out to build the line onward.
