Hi,

We would like to go from Beograd to Venice via Sarajevo, Mostar, eventually Ploce and travelling back to Venice. Thisbis the last leg of our interrail across Europe and we need to be in Venice on August 4 and would like to leave Beograd on July 30 at night or 31 in the morning. Any creative advice ? Too tight perhaps ...

Thanks,

Christina

Hi Christina!

Hope all went fine so far!? :)

Humm...well Beograd - Sarajevo - Ploce is in theory possible within a day, but you definitely should make stops in Sarajevo and/or Mostar.

From Ploce you will have to take a bus to Split from where you then can continue towards Venezia. But it is all not the most easy trip. ;)

Beograd - Sarajevo: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/belgrade-to-sarajevo
Sarajevo - Mostar - Ploce: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/sarajevo-to-ploce

Assuming you'd leave Beograd on 31st in the morning, you'd be in Sarajevo late afternoon, spending the night there. You could then leave with the late train the next day after visiting the city, arriving in Mostar in the evening of the 1st. Getting up early on the 2nd to have a look around the town and leaving for Ploce arriving around noon. Then with a bus along the coast to Split, where you stay for the night.
Leaving Split in the morning of the 3rd to Zagreb, then it depends on when you have to be in Venezia on the 4th how to continue - either stay overnight, or use the night train.

However, it is probably quite schedule for the end of your trip. Alternatives could be going straight to Zagreb and then maybe to Koper/Triest - just been there, it is really nice there as well. Especially Piran (which can be reached from Koper per bus) seems to be packed with families. :)
