Hey folks,
when I have an Interrail-pass, do I have to buy a ticket for public transport extra?
(e.g. for Subway, Citybus, ...)
Do you have any tipps / some advice ?
Can I get reductions in some cities?
I will travel BERN, LYON, Montpellier, Barcelona, Madrid, Lisboa, Porto and Paris;
Thanks a lot!

yes, you have to buy tickets for public transport
sometimes you can use for free city trains (U/S-Bahn) in Germany and Austria(i'm not sure about it)
for example in Barcelona you can obtain 50% discount for FGC trains but it serves only for travel outside the city.
the best option in Barcelona is buy T-10 ticket which allows you to do 10 travels(also with changes). costs 8,25 euro (normal, single ticket costs 1,45). you can buy it in vending machines in entrances to metro

walking, you do not have to pay and you can see more places and feel the city :D

Hi!
As Hetman said, public transport (bus, metro, tram,...) are not included in InterRail. However, some cities have S-Bahn suburban trains which you can use in most cases.
In Barcelona you can use Rodalies (suburban trains) operated by RENFE for free - which can be useful for some trips.
In Madrid these services are called Cercanias.
In Paris, get a carnet, 10 single trips for getting around, price is currently ~12,70€. At weekends there is a day pass for <26years which is only 3,30€ and strongly recommended! :)

every city has its own fares. on a site like busstation.net you can get the links to citysystems-if you think that is woth it.
In most cases the choice is between a single (mostly between 1-2€-more exp. in Scandinavia) and a day pass (may be valid till 24.00-or sometimes 24 hrs-till same time next day). You decide yourself what is best.
Note that you often have to STAMP=validate such tickets-without it you are still though of as riding black and may get a heafty fine when they check. (europeans should be used to that, UKers hardly ever). For trams and metro you often buy at stops before you board.

Hey guys!
Thanks a lot!
Ok, so I will check out the options in every city ... whatever ... could be a new idea - interrail and cityrail ticket or something like that which covers also public transport. But I'm not a politician :D
Walking ... yes, I will do a lot of metres I guess haha ;)
