Just ordered one....
Gone for a currency card as my bank rips me off on exchange rates, withdrawals etc.
Anyway, I was going to get a Euro cash passport and a separate 'globe' one (loaded with £ which you convert as and when you spend) for non eurozone countries. Ended up putting it all on a globe card as the 1.5% exchange rate they charge (based on the mastercard rate) is better than the rate you would buy the euros to put on the euro card in the first place. Easier for me, one card to carry and no need to lose money when changing back anything that's left over (like that will happen!).
Had a dollars Travelex card when I went to Florida last year and it was fine for me.
Any pitfalls, please let us know but it seems the best option to me...
Chris.
PS - if you go for this order the Globe not the regular GBP card as the fees are different.

THere are a number of free to use abroad Credit and Debit cards that are cheaper to use than these - you just get charged the mastercard or visa exchange rates.
Unfortunatly because these travelex cards and similar ones are cheaper than most high street bank cards people asume they are the cheapest. THere is nothing wrong with opening a new bank account to get a free to use abroad card and then close it when you get back. It is a little more work but also allows you to have plenty of money in reserve as nothing needs converting back at the end, you can just remove the money from the account
