When I plan a trip with the Interrail app, I have to choose an exact train connection which I add to my trip. Is the ticket then only valid for this exact connection or can I also take for example a later train for the same route?

If there is no mandatory reservation and the other train is of the same company the conductor will allow it, but why not just change the time at your app to avoid problems??
