In connection with this post: https://rail.cc/en/ave-trains-madrid-barcelona/f6624

I found this:

19:40 Milano Centrale EN 11274
09:43 Barcelona Estacion de Franca

Transit (? local train?) to Barcelona Sants
11:00 Barcelona Sants AVE 3112
'13:52 Madrid-Puerta de Atocha

Is that a good one?

Hi!

Well, this is certainly the best connection regarding comfort (only one change) and travel time. Other connections require several changes and include many trains for which you need a reservation.

However, the Milano - Barcelona Elipsos night train is very expensive itself: :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/milan-barcelona-en-11274/166
But you save the costs of a hostel. To get to Barcelona from Milano during the day reservation cost sum up to ~ 22€.

Hi.
Avoid these kind of apps you mentioned (I removed it not to get people confused).
Better use schedule planers in connection with the information here.

Schedule planers: https://rail.cc/en/search-train-route

Information about (also free) routes: https://rail.cc/en/latour-de-carol/latour-de-carol-enveitg-railway-station/l56

Peter :)

EDIT: Flow was the fater one. ;)

I just want to say that you guys are so fast and extremely helpful! Thank you, I will check it out, Nice and Petit Train Jaune sounds wonderful though! Maybe skip Milan and go to Nice instead.. I just want to go to one more city after Zurich/Lucerne and before Madrid! :)

If you look at my other post which I linked too, there's talk about the AVE trains which have a €10 reservation fee but are quite fast. I'll probably go for one of those :)

Ohh! I see, sorry for being slow. Well I have been to Barcelona actually, and would love a city in either France or Italy that is kind of on the way from Lucerne to Barcelona. :)

well, so, as you can see, the connections in south of France are not comfortable.

from Zurich you also can go, with one change in Paris, to north of Spain:

TGV Zurich - Paris (8euro)
night train Paris - Irun(also Bilbao, San Sebastian, etc.) https://rail.cc/en/night-train/paris-irun-icn-4053/112

Do you recommend the north of Spain then, like Irun? Anything fun to see there? I would rather get there quicker and spend more time there than changing the train so many times and stuff..

Also, maybe I'm missing something, but how do you get from Nice to Petit Train Jaune?

With my time frame and everything, I think it sounds like a really good idea. Then I can go straight from Northern Spain to Madrid as well. So you are saying TGV from Zurich to Paris will only cost me 7 euro??
