Hello boys 'n girls!

Well like pretty much everyone else posting in this forum, I'm new and looking for info-sharing.

To be more precise, for now I'm only trying to know if the route I imagined is feasible (time and train connections speaking).

I plan on leaving on Augusth 8th and returning to Paris on the 27th.
I really have no other choice regarding the dates of departure and return since I'll be working before and after.

THE ROUTE

8/8 - flight from PARIS to PRAGUE (arrival in the afternoon)

PRAGUE 8/8 -> 10/8
10/8 & 11/8 - night train to KRAKOW
KRAKOW 11/8 -> 12/8
12/8 & 13/8 - night train to WIEN
WIEN 13/8 -> 15/8
15/8 in the morning - train to BUDAPEST
BUDAPEST 15/8 -> 17/8
17/8 & 18/8 - night train to BUCHAREST
BUCHAREST 18/8 -> 20/8
20/8 morning to 21/8 morning : train day and night to ISTAMBUL
ISTAMBUL 21/8 -> 23/8
23/8 & 24/8 - night train to ATHENS (arrival in the afternoon on the 24th)
ATHENS 24/8 -> 27/8
27/8 flight back to PARIS

What do you think? Is it very fast? Is is technically feasible and easy? Should we spend more time in some places and less in others?

Any kind of feedback will be very welcome :D including advices tips and so on 8)

Love,

oja

Hello

All the information on the night trains is at https://rail.cc/en/night-train - Please ask if there are any specific questions about those or other trains and we will be happy to help. I have just looked through them all and they look to all work except the i cannot obviously find the data for Instanbul to Athens - there are no international train connections at the current time as far as im aware

In terms of time spent in places it really depends on what you want to do. I have just got back from a two week trip to loads of places where we only spent a day or so in most cities. This was great for seeing the major sights and there are some places i will probably go back to in the future to spend more time. I cant say any specifics for the cities you are going to as i havent been to them before but im sure somebody else will be able to advise there. Generally a couple of days should be quite good

Hope this helps and if you have any further questions dont hesitate to ask

Wow, that was a quick reply! :o

Lordmwa, thank you a lot for your feedback, I really appreciate it.

I do share the idea of doing a trip like you did (1 day/city for you, avg 2days for me), because indeed I'm only targetting major sights. Plus I think it preserves the feeling of always be on the road :D

At first glance I didn't notice that there were no more connection between Istambul and Athens.. but it seems very logical - unfortunately - regarding the economic situation.

Well I think I'll put aside Greece and think about something else...

Well I was thinking of making another stop then, but I don't know which one to choose :
- Sofia (Budapest -> Bucharest -> Sofia -> Istanbul)
- Belgrade (Budapest -> Belgrade -> Bucharest -> Istanbul)
- Brastilava (Vienne -> Bratislava -> Budapest)

Bratislava seems to be the less painful city to reach (in terms of time) ; is it worth it?

Thanks for your reply ;)

Love,

oja

Edit: also thanks to Peter, I saw this meanwhile but I appreciate your post :)
- Sofia (Budapest -> Bucharest -> Sofia -> Istanbul)
- Belgrade (Budapest -> Belgrade -> Bucharest -> Istanbul)

or may be:
dep 23:30 Budapest
- arr 06:49 Beograd dep 21:15
- arr 07:32 Sofia dep 20:40
- arr 06:34 Bucarest?
this route has good direct night connection so you will not have to think about some place to sleep if you spend there 1 day per city

Hetman, thanks for your answer :)

I think it is an interesting choice to spend 1 day in both Beograd and Sofia.
However I fear that those single days will be shortened by possible train delays. Are these very frequent on center European trains?
Also, I've chosen to add Berlin at the beginning of my trip since I'm not going to Athens anymore.

Well anyway I'll check what you suggested and will get back to post my final route :p
The only info I'm missing now is the problem of train delays... don't know if there's any subject on this.

Love,

oja
