Hi guys,

I am travelling this summer with a couple of friends in Germany, Scandinavia and Baltic countries. I was looking to book a night train from Basel to Copenhagen on 26th of July, but unfortunatelly everything was booked so we chose to take the Basel-Hamburg night train(we found some couchette places there) ; we will arrive in Hamburg at 09.18 on platform 8a/b and at 09.28 there will be an ICE Hamburg to Copenhagen at platform 5a/b. I don't know exactly how Hamburg HBF looks like or the distance between these platforms (I understand that HBF is huge) and I kindly ask for your opinion...do you think it's possible to catch the train to Copenhagen in 10 minutes ? for us to catch this train will be great as we will spend more time in copenhagen and spend less time in a railway station...

Thank you for your reply.

P.S. congrats for the site...my main source of inspiration when I travel in Europe :)

Hi.
Thanks for liking railcc. :)
In my opinion you will catch the train to Copenhagen. It's possible to do to change the platforms within 10 minutes.
Except the night train is in delay.
Here are some photos from Hamburg main station:

Have a nice trip, Peter :)
