Hi there. This is my first post on railcc but I've been lurking for ages :)
So, I figured out an interrail trip for this summer, my first ever, and I need some clarification. I'll be buying the 5 in 10 pass.
IR DAY 1:

[code:136jgcei]Zagreb July 28th 23:50
Venice July 29th 07:04
---
sleeper 1/3 30€ suppmlement
Venice July 29th 16:20
Milano July 29th 18:55
---
seat 10€ supplement[/code:136jgcei]
IR DAY 2:

[code:136jgcei]Milano July 29th 19:40
Barcelona July 30th 09:43
---
couchette 1/4 75€ supplement[/code:136jgcei]
IR DAY 3:

[code:136jgcei]Barcelona August 1st 15:35
Irun August 1st 21:32
---
seat 10€ supplement[/code:136jgcei]
IR DAY 4:

[code:136jgcei]Irun August 1st 22:20
Coimbra-B August 2nd 08:19
---
couchette 1/4 30€ supplement
Coimbra-B August 2nd 08:45
Porto August 2nd 08:19
---
seat 16,50€ supplement[/code:136jgcei]
from Porto to Lisbon I would buy a regular ticket
[code:136jgcei]Porto August 5th 11:47
Lisbon August 5th 14:22
---
seat 22,50€ ticket[/code:136jgcei]
IR DAY 5:

[code:136jgcei]Lisbon August 6th 22:30
Madrid August 7th 09:03
---
couchette 1/4 29€ supplement[/code:136jgcei]
So if the first day of validity of my pass is July 29th these are my questions:
1. can I board the train Zagreb->Venice like I planned?
2. can I reach Madrid as planned or does the validity end on August 6th?
3. are my supplements and tickets correct?
4. what about making the reservations from Milano onward? can I make them online or not?
Thanks alot :)

Hi.
1) You will have to pay for the part Zagreb to the first station after midnight. As your Interrail pass will begin on the 29th at 00:01h - not before!
But it will be cheap.
Zagreb Glavni Kolod. dep: 2350
Pay until: Savski Marof arr: 0012
2) Ticket ends on the 6th at 23:59h. You will have to pay extra for the distance travelling after midnight.
3) Looks good - compare it on the railcc site.
Some more information:
Zagreb-Venice: also possible this way - https://rail.cc/en/ljubljana-venice-train/f3663
Venice-Milan: save the reservation fee - use free trains: https://rail.cc/en/train/venice-to-milan
4) Like Hetman said.

I thought that might be the case, but still it doesn't make sense to me for the validity do end on 23:59 on Aug 6th. The pass is 5 days of travel in 10 calendar days. If the first day is July 29th, Aug 6th is the 9th day :/
Thanks for the free Venice->Milan train and the rest of the advice as well ;)

small tip re day 3->4
both trains double the short track san Sebastian=Donostia-Irun. As there is nothing to do in Irun except looking at trains and now closed border stations, avoid it and stay a little longer in SB.
I think 75 eur is a very big sum to pay for a CC=couchette. But that is the case for the direct trians. Can save-but change more and thus have lesser time in the towns: check for a nighttain Nice/Ventimiglia-Cerbere/Port Bou and use the local trains to and from there. Then you can use the seats-just 5/6 eur extra. But this Lunea nighttrain (check voyages-snacf) idoes not run daily and is not bookable online (as extra for IR-passholder)

Thanks for the tip about San Sebastian. I am wondering though, will there be any problems boarding a couchette train after its initial station (Irun) ?
Yes, the 75€ price tag is very expensive but I have no choice since I will have only 5 days on my IR card. But about this night train Nice/Ventimiglia-Cerbere/Portbou. I'm looking for it but can't seem to find it.

I've found an alternate route from Zagreb to Barcelona which is a little bit more complicated but 40€ cheaper.
[code:iutd29eg]ZAGREB 21:15
KRANJ 00:10
MUNICH 06:15

couchette 1/4 suplement 20€[/code:iutd29eg]
[code:iutd29eg]MUNICH 12:43
KARLSRUHE 15:50

seat suplement 4€
KARLSRUHE 17:09
OFFENBURG 17:56
---
free
OFFENBURG 18:04
STRASBOURG 18:34
---
free[/code:iutd29eg]
[code:iutd29eg]STRASBOURG 20:19
CERBERE 09:14
---
couchette 1/6 suplement 17,50€
CERBERE 09:32
BARCELONA 11:48
---
seat suplement 6,50€

I checked the night train from Strasbourg to Cerbere on [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] and it runs on July 28th. Obviously all of my other trains which run daily get promoted one day earlier but that shouldn't be a problem. I am concerned with making a reservation for this train since I read somewhere on this forum that this train is problematic. Is this true?
Are my supplements correct?
What about the train Zagreb->Munich via Kranj? Since the first day of validity would be after midnight, and since I'm determined to travel in a couchette, how do I do this as painless as possible?
Do I buy a regular ticket for a seat from Zagreb to Kranj and then enter my couchette in Kranj (obviously having made the appropriate reservation?
Or do I buy a regular ticket for a couchette from Zagreb to Kranj and simply remain in the couchette after Kranj (obviously having noted my first day of travel in my Interrail card)?

if you book a seat on the night train and the guard will probably not mind if you go straight to the couchette - check on the train. (if they do then just use the seat till you can move)
If you dont mind missing venice then that is quite a nice route - (i did bits of it in the last couple of weeks).
You do NOT need a reservation out of munich as it is an German IC train.
