Hello!

For the past two weeks, I've been looking around everywhere to find information on how to book the right tickets to each train that we're travelling with.
Unfortunately I haven't succeeded in finding this information, so now I need your help.
I've got several questions, so I will list them up.
It would be great if someone who has good knowledge about this, could answer me short and understandable :)

1.
My girlfriend and I will be travelling from Copenhagen to Amsterdam on the 23rd of June,
with the train departing from Copenhagen 18:20. (CNL 40473)
I've registered that you can't buy tickets online at [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] , when the arrival or departure station isn't in Germany.
Is the simple answer to this just to call them and book a ticket?

2.
Me and 3 others will be travelling from Amsterdam to Antwerp on the 27th of June, with an
Intercity train (IC 9240), leaving Amsterdam 12:53 and arriving Antwerp at 15:00.
Do I need to book a ticket for this train, or could we just enter it with our Interrail Global passes?
If I need to book it, which website should i visit?

3.
Now we're travelling from Antwerp to Bonn, using different trains. Date: 29/6
First: Intercity (IC 2037) to Bruxelles, departing at 16:17
Then: Thalys (THA 9445) to Köln, departing at 17:28
Finally: Regional Express (RE 10529), departing at 19:32
Question is: Are these trains free with the Interrail pass, or do I need to book them in advance?

4. Last one :)
We've already booked a train from Bonn to Basel, as we're doing Italy for the rest of the periode.
This train is the CNL 40419.
Nextly we want to travel from Basel to Venice, with the Eurocity (EC 153), departing 07:03,
and arriving Venice at 14:58.
Question is: When I try to book this train from xxxx ( sorry, this company is not railccs friend ), I can only have the tickets delievered to the UK, but we live in Norway.
How do I solve this?

If someone could help me with these questions, I'd be more than grateful! :D
I know it's a lot of text, but I can't seen to find the information I need..

Thank you very much Peter!

When you say that the IC-trains / regional trains are free, and need no reservations, is it correct
that we could just enter the train without any additional documents?

Do the IC-trains run in Italy to, or is it another company that operates there?

We're planning to go from Venice to Siena afterwards.
Any tips on how to get to Siena?

By the way, all four of us bought our passes through the railcc shop 8)

Your help is dearly appreciated!

Hi.
Thanks for supporting. :)

The types of trains are different in each country. Some have similar names, but belongs to different companies. An German IC train is something completely different to an Italian IC.
Check this topic to find the information for every country:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

Compare it to the schedules:
https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

If a train doesn't requires a reservation or other additional fee, just enter it and sit down.

Officially Italian IC trains are free of reservation fees. But most seats have a reservation on it - and it is not marked that the seat is reserved. So you have to move all the time. A reservation is recommended for them (EUR 3) and available online - then print it out at the ticket machines in Italian stations.

Peter :)

you do not to have to make reservation but you have to present your IR Pass or even ID.

in Italy reservation is possible but not required -> https://rail.cc/en-type-country/intercity/trenitalia-ic/47

repeat this now for 3d time; this is NO longer the case-since at least 2 years now ALL long-dist trains in IT, trenitalia/FS, need seat reservations (night trains ICN always did anyway). The price depends on the distance/ up to,over 300 kms.
It is complicated that IC mans a different thing in many countries. In NL it is just a faster train, in Se it is any train Non-X2000.

This is from Trenitalia website:

5. Biglietto global pass

Prenotazione su treni Espressi, IC ed ICN 3,00 €
a)Viaggio su treni AV, ES*, ES* city 10,00 €
b) Viaggio in cuccetta Pari al cambio servizio cuccetta previsto per la tipologia
di cuccetta utilizzata
c) Viaggio in VL Pari al cambio servizio VL previsto a seconda della
sistemazione prescelta

Prenotazione vs Viaggio...

Hello!

First of all I would like to thank you for the great help I've recieved in here!
I'll definately tell other people thinking about going on IR, that you guys are serious and helpful.

Now I've booked our train from Copenhagen to Amsterdam, and from Basel to Venice.
Off course thorugh the railcc site.

My question this time is why my reciept says this: SBB INTERNATIONAL RESERVATION EURAIL PASSHhttps://rail.cc/en/night-train/sweden/seER
We're not EURAIL passholders, but Interrail passholders.
Does this matter?

Second and final question is:
By a mistake I bought first class tickets on the train from Basel to Venice, but we haven't bought first class IR tickets.
Do I have to correct this, or doesn't it make a difference?

Thanks
Erling

Hi Erling!

1) The EuRail reservations from railcc are valid both for InterRailer and EuRailer. :)

2) You have bought a reservation, not a ticket, right? If it is a reservation it wont be of much use as it is for seats in 1st class for which you do not have the right ticket. Best is to exchange the reservation for a new one in 2nd class.

Well, I've bought a ticket through railcc, so I guess it's a ticket, and not a reservation?

In any case, could I contact Peter to make these changes?

Well, it seems as you are InterRailing. In that case you only need a reservation for the Basel - Venezia train. As InterRail is already your ticket.

But anyway, contact Peter who will know the details. :)
