in majority of trains in Switzerland you do not need reservation so you should not pay more than for IR pass.

there are lots of trains and when I was there I did not have any problems with a seat so do not worry.

moreover the travel between the cities does not take to much time :)

Thank you hetman.

I can not change Sion or Geneva, but a trip to zurich is not yet clear cut, is there a better city to visit for full three days in September?

if you like Queen you should go to Montreux (near Lausanne). it's nice town to take a rest. you can go by boat from Montreux to Geneva(I'm not sure but there should be some discount for IR holders).

also i.e. Chur(near Zurich) I like but it's small town like Montreux so for me it's not enough city for spend too much time.
May be Bern? You have to decide :)

Hi!

If you have time, you could go via some nice mountain railways from Sion to Zürich:

Sion - Brig - Goppenstein - Spiez - Interlaken - Meiringen - Luzern - Zürich :)

No extra fees to be paid. Also for all other routes no extra reservation required.

Yes, the Swiss Pass. :) It is similar to InterRail but includes other modes of transport than train as well.

Maybe this is a stupid question but i am a newbie:

If i can go to a train without reservation of seat, how do i know if the train is not full, with no seats available ?

Hi.
If travelling alone, you will always find a seat. Otherwise just sit down on the floor in a comfortable corner. :)
But trains only really get full at peak times like Friday and Sunday afternoon and evening or when school holidays in a country starts... Christmas, Easter weekend and so on.
Relax.
Peter :)
