My girlfriend and I are doing a 5-6 week interrail trip starting at the beginning of September. It's our first one, so we're really excited - I've already travelled a fair bit through Europe but she hasn't, so even more exciting for her!
We're planning on starting in Berlin and then on to Prague-Krakow-Budapest.
From there we want to go to Croatia, where we have a friend, and stay for about a week, and afterwards make our way to Western Europe (Paris and Holland for sure, we haven't decided anything else). Then we will finish in Denmark and Sweden, where I have family.
I realise these are long distances, but it's our only chance to travel Europe for at least the next 5 or 10 years! We're planning on taking night trains where possible. But I guess my main question is - because we'll be stopping in Croatia for about a week right in the middle of our trip - what sort of a pass would make the most sense to buy, financially? Will it even be worth buying a pass, or should we be looking at buying individual tickets? We're both over 26. We won't really be needing any sort of transportation in Croatia, as our friend has a car we'll be using. When we get to Sweden/Denmark at the end we aren't likely to be traveling much either, mainly just sightseeing in the cities (Copenhagen and Gothenburg, maybe a trip to Stockholm), and hanging out with friends and family. So it would just be for about 1-2 weeks before Croatia, and 1-2 weeks after...
(We'd be willing to move Croatia to either the beginning of our trip or the end, too - so we'd have more days in a row we are actually travelling - but that doesn't seem to make any sense to me, as we'll need to start and finish in either Berlin or Copenhagen!)

Hej,
if you want to stay flexible a pass certainly is worth its money especially at the end of the trip (in Western Europe). Maybe you can organise your trip in a way that a 10in22 Flexi Pass will fit it between Croatia and the end of your journey.
For the first part (Berlin - Croatia) you'll probably be better off with regular tickets than with a 5in10 Flexi Pass but I will look for details later - sorry, I'm in a hurry right now... ;)
From Croatia, you could go with overnight train to Zürich, then travel a bit through the Swiss Alps followed by France (Paris is an obvious stop but there are many many nice places: Lyon, Le Puy en Velay, Carcassonne, The Petit Train Jaune, La Dune de Pyla,...) and Benelux (Brugge plus Antwerpen/Gent/Bruxelles, then Amsterdam,...) and finally Scandinavia.
As I said, I'll be back later with more details, promise! ;)

Thanks, Flo! I think that's what we'll do... buy single tickets until we reach Croatia, and then a flexi-pass from there, especially as we want to be a bit more flexible towards the end (not having decided where exactly it is we want to go.. haha!)
