I'm in switzerland at the moment and without my interrailing ticket because it was taken by a train guard as he thought it had been tampered with (the travel dates). I Am completely stuck now without my ticket or any idea what to do. Any help appreciated.

Hummm...is there something wrong with the ticket? What did he tell you? Did you get any confirmation that he took the ticket?! :|

Are you in contact with the conductor/the railway (was it on a SBB train?)? In what town are you? Honestly I have never dealt with such a situation, I would try to get in touch again with the conductor (did he gave you any contact address?) or with SBB directly in case your ticket is OK ,

hmm, reminds me of a former job. And perhaps explains some reactions.
YES-a conductor has the right to do so.
BUT: s/he should have gone with you to an official office, in SBB in CH, to check it. But then they could have given you a big fine-and have you pay at official rates all trips you have made already, if it really was fraud
Or give you excuse and maybe evebn sonme compensation when they found it was OK.
Remember: trains are in most countries run as state organisations and fraud with fares may be thought of the same as Tax fraud. This is not UK-all commercial
