Does anyone have experience or know of a way of getting from Novalja (island of Pag, Croatia) to the nation park, Plictvice lakes?
Idealy im looking for a bus there and then a bus in the evening onto Zagreb where i will start my interrail ticket, however im having trouble finding transport from the island to the nation park.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

no-you are now having trouble finding things on the web. Why do you think that each and every bus is on the web?
I am elsewhere now and do not exactly know where that island connects to-but there must be a ferry to some mainland town. in HR=Hrvatska=Croatia for you, the bus is by far the more used transportation. They go everywhere, very often. On the main route Split=-Zagreb they run at least hourly (against 4 trains/day) and most of these stop by default at the main stop for those lakes (and do read that guidebook-if you want to stay overnight you have to debus at a nearby place where the rooms for rent are). So-do not worry-there WILL be a bus-most likely even far more as you dreamt of. In ZAG bus and train are about 1,5 km apart-2 or 3 stops by tram or 20 min walk. in Split they are side by side-with the boats/ferries too.

I do know that the nearest inland town would be Zadar, there as you say would be the most sensible and easily accesible place to get a bus up towads the lakes. I have seen excursions etc and wondered if anyone had used one of these to get to the lakes. However i can see this being more exspensive than just going inland and getting a bus from there.
I plan to get to the national park, stay the night so that i can spend the whole day at the lakes the next day and not have to rush. This should provide enough time to plan my bus to zagreb from the national park.
