I'm starting a trip in a couple weeks with the 22-day continuous interrail pass. I'm starting in Croatia (flying to Zadar) so I thought I'd travel down to Split, Dubrovnik, Kotor and Mostar by bus before my pass begins.

From Mostar, the top places I want to visit are Sarajevo, Belgrade, Brasov, Sighisoara, Budapest, Krakow, Warsaw, Prague and Vienna

If I have extra time I'd tack on Ljubijana, Munich, somewhere in Switzerland and Cinque Terre.

What would be the best travel route that would include all of these places?

Thanks! :)

Hi!

If you are starting in Zadar you could think of taking the train to Split via Knin as well - a very nice train ride although not along the coast for the most part.
Then Dubrovnik and Kotor by bus, but do not go to Mostar by bus - it has a rail connection! After Kotor, return to Ploce and start your train travel there:

Ploce - Mostar - Sarajevo - Beograd is all possible by direct trains.

Then take Beograd - Bucuresti night train and continue the next morning to Brasov, then Sighisoara. From Sighisoara direct day or night train to Budapest.

Then Budapest - Warszawa by direct day or night train, then to Krakow - Praha - Wien

I dont know if you will be able to fit in much more into 22 days...it probably is possible but you would then have to rush through the different cities, dont know if you like that or not.

Have a look around the forum (country boards) as well at railcc for more information regarding night trains, reservations, getting timetables,...
But if something is unclear or if you have further questions feel free to ask here. :)

Fantastic! This makes much more sense than what I was trying to work out. Thank you so much. :)
