Budapest Brazov Bucharest Stara-Zagova Istambul Sofia Beaograd Zagreb Ljubjana Venise Praha

Hello,
that's my itinerary for August. I'll travel with an interrail pass (10 days in 22).
I am wondering if I am not a bit too ambitious about that ? :|

Moreover, I am not too worried myself but I just wonder if you haven't any good recommandations for a 19 yearl old girl travelling alone?

Here are the details (1 these are the travel days and these n are the night)
day 0 Paris 21h30 -n Francofort 6h30 (by bus eurolines)
day 1 Francfort 19h54 -n Budapest 8h49 1
day 2 (8h49) Budapest n
day 3 Budapest n
day 4 Budapest 23h30 -n Brasov 12h02 2
day 5 (12h02) Brasov n
day 6 Brasov 12h41 - Bucharest 15h48 3 n
day 7 Bucharest 19h53 - n Stara Zagova 8h55 4
day 8 (8h55) Stara Zagova 20h54 - n Istambul 7h50 5
day 9 (7h50) Istambul n
day 10 Istambul n
day 11 Istambul n
day 12 Istambul 22h00 - n Sofia 10h52 6
day 13 (10h52) Sofia -I'd like to take a bus to Beograd there, is it possible? I don't find much infromation.. could someone help me : is there a night bus ? n (<-hopefully :o )
day 14 Beograd n
day 15 Beograd n
day 16 Beograd 21h40 - n Zagreb 5h16 7
day 17 (5h16) Zagreb n
day 18 Zagreb 9h00 - Ljubjana 11h19 ... Ljubjana 20h49 - n Venise 6h38 8
day 19 (6h38) Venise n
day 20 Venise n
day 21 Venise 22h51 - n Praga 12h18 9
day 22 (12h18) Praga

This would make 12 nights in town (couchsurfing or hostels) and 9 nights traveling (if it works for the bus btw Sofia and Beograd).
Does it seem realistic ?
I ve just got to mention that I'm meeting my family in Praga that's why it's in my itinerary even though it's not quite a natural following after Venise.
Any advice would be great. I'm affraid to miss some important point of my organnisation since it's my first tripp of that kind :os .

Thanks
Jeanne

Hi!

Quite an ambitious plan, but I think it is possible. And it is an interesting route.

Some remarks:

Frankfurt - Budapest: This is with the night train to Wien :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/duesseldorf-vienna-en-421/43 which is sadly really expensive.. :|

Budapest - Brasov :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/vienna-bucharest-en-347/50

Brasov - Bucuresti: Romanina long distance trains require an additional reservation

Sofia - Beograd: Why not take the direct night train? If you get a regular ticket for Zagreb to Ljubljana it should be no problem regarding the travel days... :)

Ljubljana - Venezia: Where did you find that connection? There is only this night train :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/hungary/hu

Venezia - Praha: This is with the night train to München :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/venice-munich-cnl-40236/36 and then a bus with 10€ reservation from Nürnberg to Praha. You could instead take the night train to Wien :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/venice-vienna-en-236/97 and continue with an EC to Praha. This would take 2 hours longer but would get a little cheaper overall.

Thanks for the answer !

The Francfurt Budapest train is indeed very expensiv :o
Should I, then, just take a bus to somewhere else? and then a cheaper train to Budapest ?

And are the seats ok to sleep on in a night train ? ( Imean, to pay 3 euros instead of 16,5 for the Budapest/Braso train ?)
Regarding the additional reservation for the Brasovv/Bucharest train, does it need to be don more than a 2 days in advance ?

What I worried about concerning the night train Sofia/Beograd was that it's arriving at 3h53 and if I understood properly if we want a night trip to be counted as just one travel day we shall leave after 7pm and arrive after 4am ? so wouldn't it count for two travel days ?

Ljubjana-Venice : I found it on the DBahn website. There are 2 change but I don't know.... isn't it better than to wait alone til 2h30 ?

that's a good idea for the Venicfe Praha connection :)

Thanks so much for your help and sorry for my thausands of questions..

Hi Jeanne,

glad I can help. :)

Frankfurt - Budapest: My bad...this is a good connection. It is indeed with free ICE to München, then with this night train to Budapest :arr: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/munich-budapest-en-463/55 So everything ok.. :)

In general, it is ok to sleep on a regular seat in a night train - but I would not recommend to do it all the time. ;) It also depends on the kind of wagon that is used: Open coaches often are not as comfortable as compartments because you cant switch off the light and cant recline the seats. But there are also quite uncomfortable compartments...
I would recommend to take a sleeping mask and earplugs with you - always good things to have during travelling. ;)

The reservations for the domestic trains in Romania should not be a problem to be made two days in advance. But I am not sure if you can make them from abroad.

Sofia - Beograd: Yeah, that might be an issue, although it is only seven minutes.. :| I dont get it anyway why they let arrive the train that early in Beograd... What about a day train? The route is quite nice. :)

I didnt found the connection to Venezia you mentioned...will have another look tomorrow. Anyway, I think it is no problem to wait for the direct night train - it is quite a popular route with InterRailers. :)

Thank you again !
I don't know if you realize how helpfull and overall reassuring it is to have someone else helping !

Unfortunately I just learned that Ive'got to move in an other city to study so I won't be able to leave for 22 days... :'(
I think I'll go for the 10 days with 5 travel days but now the whole itinerary won't work anymore...
I don't even know how to choose...what to choose.
how many places should I go for ?

Humm, that's a pity... :|

OK, before I can make a suggestion:

From where do you have to start your trip/where do you want to end up? And what kind of nationality are you/what is your country of residence (helps on planning a short way out of your country of residence). :)
