Hi,

I'm going inter-railing this summer and we're debating whether to take a tent with us. Halfway through our trip we are going to Arenal Sound music festival in Spain and of course, we will need a tent.

Is it sensible to just take a tent with us for the whole trip, or to buy one when we're in Spain?

I thought it would be more convenient to just buy one in Spain, because it saves on space in our rucksacks and we're staying in cities where there will be hostels anyway. Is this sensible or not?

Many thanks,

Rose. :)

Hi,

for example on Coke Live Muisc Festival in Poland tents were given for free if you'd bought tickets with camping field included! Maybe send an email to organisasator and ask or read fan forum of Arenal Sound ;)

Have a nice day.

Hi Rose,

if you are going to use the tent only for the festival I think it makes no sense to lug it around the whole trip.

However, since travelling by train is an ecological way to see the world, I dont really support the idea of buying a tent and then leave it at the festival site...
What about a mix of camping and hostels/couchsurfing? Where are you going to? There are quite many cities with nice camping sites not too far away from the centre.

We are going to Ljubljana and Lake Bled, Bratislava, maybe Milan, then Barcelona, Paris and finishing in Amsterdam. We have already booked hostels for Brno (where we are starting our trip) and Vienna (our 2nd destination).

So are there any good camping spots in any of these cities?

Thank you! :)

Well, in Paris and Amsterdam I know campsites not too far away from the centre (~30min depending on transport mode) which are reasonably priced - they come handy as accomodation in both cities is rather expensive.

In Barcelona there shoul be a campsite a little bit more out of town - dont know exactly. In Bled there is a campsite right at the lake close to Bled Jezero station.

Dont know about the other cities.

Okay, thanks very much :)

Finally, do you know any Spanish shops which would sell a tent when we're there, which we could take home?

You can just go to Decathlon. Has lots of variety and I remember 1 in the center of Barcelona near the Ramblas. Went there to buy some lockers. You could also go to El Corte Inglés but it may be more expensive than Decathlon. You'll find tons of those in Barcelona.

Hope it helps
