Hello there :)

I'm flying to Krakow on the 15th (am) June and I fly back from Istanbul on the 18th(am) July. I have an interrail ticket valid for 31 days from the 16th June.

I was hoping for a bit of travel advice as I'm not really sure the best route to go about this, considering I want a fairly rounded trip, by that I mean I'd like to see some interesting cities but also some scenery, maybe some beach time, anything goes! I should probably mention I'm going at it alone. My budget is around £1500 but this can be stretched if there's the opportunity for exciting stuff like river rafting or quad biking. :)
Here's what I was thinking:
Start in Krakow, a day for the city, a day for the salt mines and a day for Auswitch. Those seem to be the must-do things!
Maybe go to zakopane... not sure if it's too far out the way.

Prague for 2 or 3 nights

Vienna for maybe 2 nights
With a day trip to Bratislava
Salzburg?

-Slovenia! This part excites me the most. I'd like to visit Ljubljana, lake Bled/Bohinj, Postojna/Škocjan Caves. Basically I reckon this will be my city escape part of the trip. I would love to do some river rafting as well.
From there I'd like to go to North croatia. (visiting the south in August for 10-14days). Get a chance to lie on a beach hopefully. Maybe Zagreb.

From there I'm not really too fussed where I go, as long as I end up in Turkey on time and see some interesting places along the way.

Any advice? Any must see places or awesome things to do?

Many thanks in advance, much appreciated.

Hi Calvin!

Some suggestions.. ;)

Krakow - Praha - Wien. Obvious...very nice places indeed. Zakopane...if you want to go there do it as a day trip from Krakow. The railway ends here so you would have to return to Krakow anyway.

Bratislava is nice but it is not that much to do there...day trip from Vienna is enough I think. Nightlife is very good as well...but it is Praha, Wien too :D

Salzburg certainly is interesting for one or two days - good connections from Vienna and to Slovenia. Anyway, it is quite touristy, if you want to visit another beautiful Austrian city, think about Graz! ;)

Slovenia...have a look at the Slovenian board of the forum where you will find some information regarding getting to Bled, Postojna etc... Ljubljana is nice!

In North Croatia, think about going to one of the Islands...Krk and Cres are quite close to Rijeka from where you have bus/boat connections. :)

Then, you have two options.

You could go directly to Beograd. Then go to Montenegro. Back to Beograd and via Sofia to Istanbul
Or go to Split then along the coast (by bus) to Ploce. Then by train again to Mostar and Sarajevo > then as above.

Oh, and think about going to Budapest! I cant recommend it enough! :)
