Hello!

Ok so, I currently live in S.Korea ( Canadian citizen) but will be backpacking Europe in the fall and a friend sent me a link to this site and it seems great but it's just very overwhelming at the moment. I do hold a Dutch passport but I think from what I have read I should buy a EuRail pass because I have not been living in Europe. I will be backpacking for a couple months and I dont plan on really making any concrete plans as for how long I want to spend in each country, so would the 2 month continous EuRail Global Flexi Pass be best for me? One last thing, booking trains ahead of time, is this a must? and if not then when I am travelling do I just go online and book? Thanks so much in advance. :D

Hi Ashante.

What a mix: residency in S.Korea, citizen of Canada, holding a Dutch passport.
With this mix, I recommend you to purchase an: InterRail Pass - with country of residency: the Netherlands
As in reality, everything else would confuse a conductor checking your Rail Pass. As you have an European passport, this is the easiest solution.

You will always find connections which no need of seat reservations in advance. So do NOT book to much reservations in advance - stay flexible and relax. We will add more and more connections the following days in the new version of our website.

As you will travel 2 months, I recommend you two or three 10 travel days in 22 days (10 in 22) InterRail Global Passes. You won't travel every day.

Peter :)

if you have Dutch passport and Canadian then you can buy InterRail(and then you give dates from Dutch passport) or EurRail ticket so it is your choice.

You can buy reservation even 10 minutes before train is leaving BUT you have to know that is limited number of places for passengers with this type of ticket(for both IR and ER).
So if you planning to use trains where you need reservation do it as soon as possible.
In regional trains(but fortunately not only(please take a look on forum and other places in this service)) generally you do not need reserve a place.

So take you time and read carefully this site and everything will be clear for you :)

Thanks so much to the both of you :)

2 more questions. My Dutch passport comes from Curacao (the Dutch Antille Island), so that is still ok to purchase the Interrail right? Also, I am travelling solo, so is it safe to travel solo as a female on the night trains?

1) Than you have to buy EuRail... :|

2) On most night trains in Western Europe there are couchettes for females only; sleepers are generally divided into male/female compartments
