Hi everyone! I want to make a short interrail trip this summer. I will stay a few days in Switzerland and afterwards I'm going to Italy (probably to Lago Maggiore or the Comolake-> What is better to spend just 1 or 2 days, relax a little bit but with a nice area?).
I would like to take a scenic train from Zürich or Luzern to the Italian lakes. Which train is the best for this trip? The Wilhelm Tell? However that's pretty expensive... Or are there any other beautiful scenic trains on this traject?
Hope someone can help me! I've been searching pretty long already ;) !

Hi!
Going with Wilhelm Tell Express is a waste of money - there are frequent trains on the same route where you dont have to pay extra with your InterRail pass.
In principle you have two options:
Go to Lago Maggiore:
via the Gotthard route: Luzern - Göschenen - Airolo - Bellinzona and then either to Locarno or towards Luino (both at Lago Maggiore). I'd recommend to go via Locarno, because you could then go with the Centovalli Railway to Domodossola and then continue to Milano.
via the routes of Glacier and Bernina Express: Luzern - Göschenen - Andermatt - Disentis - Pontresina - Ospizio Bernina - Tirano - Lago di Como
This is best done with an extra night somewhere along the route, eg in Pontresina or Ospizio Bernina. You will have to get an extra ticket for the part Göschenen - Disentis which is operated by MGB which is not included in InterRail (50% discount for Youth InterRail passes).
Another option also could be Luzern - Meiringen - Spiez - Brig - Domodossola - Lugano. Have a look at the map here :arr: http://www.bueker.net/trainspotting/map.php?file=maps/switzerland/switzerland.gif
