Hi all,

My friend and I are looking to InterRail this summer round europe and have been looking in to buying a package so that accomodation and everything is already sorted. Does anyone have any feedback on these packages? Also the whole reservation of train seats is confusing me. Do we have to do this for every journey and how do we go about it?

Thanks

Karen

Hi Karen.
Save you money and do it by yourself. It is much more fun, much cheaper and you stay flexible and free. That's the sense of InterRail. :)
And it is easy...! You will see.
Online booking and rating of hostels: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]
Concerning reservations read here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
https://rail.cc/en/first-interrail-tour/f3303

Maybe just let me know your route you want to travel and I will explain you the difficult reservation fees.

Peter :)

Hi Peter,

Thankyou for your reply. My friend and I tried to work out doing it all seperately and it seemed a lot dearer?? The package we were looking at was Amsterdam - Brussels - Paris - Nice - Florence - Rome - Venice - Budapest - Krakow - Prague - Berlin.

We are first time travellers and feeling a bit clueless!!

Karen :)

your Q remians unclear- a package-for travel organisers, means ''accomodation etc'' included. IR allows so many different routes, that this would be impracticable. However, sometimes f.e. the local YH or a youth club organises some group tour-along a set route, and organise all (like Hostel reservations) for those who seem unable to find their own way. doing an IR also means to gain experience in life and how to behave and save yourself in a foreign and non-english speaking environment. That is part of ''to grow up''.
also you did NOT say where you are from-in your home country you get only 50% off trainsectors with IR-it is 'free'' out of it. It also depends on what trains you plan to use and in how much time.
As with any pass-even a 1-daycard on Londons'buses-it all depends on how many trips you make ond how far if that would pay off. Frankly; you cannot expect some strangers to sit hours behind a computer to find all fares and then tell you if its worth it or not.

Karen was referred to an IR package that includes ticket, accomodation along the route and reservations where neccessary.

nltrainer - I did not for one minute expect anyone or any 'stranger' to sit down and calculate this for me. I was asked by another member which route I was planning on taking and I simply answered this. Thanks anyway for you input.

Hi Karen. :)

Here some hints which might help you planing your trip.

Amsterdam-Brussels: do it by reservation/supplement free and frequent IC trains.

Brussels-Paris: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/thalys/41

Paris-Nice: do it by the French Corail night train. It is cheap and you can book it online:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/france/fr

Nice-Rome: https://rail.cc/en/nice-rome/f6246

Rome-Pisa-Florence:
https://rail.cc/en/rome-pisa/f6233
https://rail.cc/en/pisa-florence/f6234

Florence-Venice: https://rail.cc/en/florence-venice/f6235

Venice-Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/venice-budapest-night-train/f1487

Budapest-Krakow: https://rail.cc/en/budapest-krakow-night-train/f3304

Krakow-Prague: https://rail.cc/en/krakow-prague-night-train/f3847

Prague-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/prague-berlin-train/f3360

In total it is a interesting route. I selected connections which avoid - if possible - trains with hight reservation fees. There are always other connections available - just some examples.

Have a nice evening, Peter :)
