Long story short a friend and I are taking our first interail trip on the 15june - 12july.
We have very little idea of what we are doing and have just about settled our route
amsterdam, berlin, prague, vienna, venice, rome, milan, zurich, munich, frankfurt, paris, normandy, paris, brussels, amsterdam.
My question is, do we have to join the youth hostel association in order to stay in hostels?
Also while im here, does anyone know costs per night of above hostels in each city?
Many thanks in advance

Hi!
Joining the youth hostel association makes sense only if you are planning to stay in their hostels (HI hostels) a lot. In the cities you are going to visit you will find lots of other hostels which do not belong to the hostel association so I think you can save the money.
You can check out hostels (and book them as well) under this link :arr: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]

you normally don't have to be part of the association to be allowed in. Then, either you have to pay a little more per night or you can purchase the card directl there. It is very cheap and it pays out if you stay in HI hostels for maybe 5 nights or more... So don't worry about that too much!
