Hello all!
So here is the plan so far...
My girlfriend and I will be buying 22 day global passes. We will be spending about 2 weeks in the beginning of August in the south-west of Germany near France and Switzerland before starting use of our passes. Thoughts on what to see in this region would be appreciated! We will start use of our passes in Germany, possibly heading towards Berlin for a night or 2 before heading south into Italy. The goal is to see alot of the major sites in Italy (Venice, Rome, Naples/Pompeii) then on to Bari. From Bari catch the ferry to Patra and do a tour of some of the major sites of Greece. From Greece railing our way back up, with the possibility of a few stop-offs on our way to our final destination, Amsterdam. The plan is to end in Amsterdam at the expiration of the passes. My biggest concern... is 22 days enough for touring Italy, Greece, and still enough time to make it to Amsterdam? Is there possibility for stop-offs? Please help!

About Greece, you can take ferry from Bari to Patras then bus to Athens and train or bus to Thessaloniki.
From Thessaloniki you can go northern via Belgrade - Vienna - etc..

Yes, but would you say there is enough time to fit Greece into this trip?

Although i should suggest the opposite, you can avoid Greece, specially this summer. 8) :|
Or go from Bari to Igoumenitsa and then Thessaloniki for couple days before moving northern.

Why SHOULDN'T he visit Greece THIS summer? I see no reason at all. The country is a paradise, especially in summer.
iamzachl, feel free to ask me whatever you need regarding Greece, I'll be glad to help.

Due to lack of international trains, lack of night trains and sleeping vagons, high prices at mainland trains, frequent strikes, racists attacks in Athens downtown.
iamzachl asked if he can include Greece to his trip and i suggest not to do so, i am Greek too but i am an experienced traveler and want to give usefull piece of information to other travelers.

Thank you both for the tips. Looks like we wont be including Greece on this trip. New trip is looking like Munich-Rome-Naples-Venice-Budapest-Prague-Vienna-Berlin-Amsterdam. Thanks again!
