Hello all,

(Please accept my apologies first of all if a similar route has been proposed/discussed which I could not find)

Im planing my first ever Interrailing and I have never been out of UK therefore I would like to visit the popular cities, as much as possible, with a balanced mixture with relaxing places because I am a big fan of beaches and mountains....

The cities that I have in my mind to visit in 30 days are:

Paris
Amsterdam
Berlin
Prague
Vienna
Munich
Venice
Budapest
Belgrade
Corfu
Rome
Barcelona
Madrid
Lisbon'............................

I am 25 year old, very much into out door sports, may be thats why my plan is a bit too ambitious.... All suggestions will be welcomed, since I am on my own !!!

It seems like it will be a long journey from Italy to Spain via France, so do you think I could get a cheap flight to save some time....

And I hoping to buy the youth 2nd class ticket, would that be a bad idea????

Please help me out...thanks.

Hi!

An ambitious plan, but if you are fine that you wont have too much time in each city it is perfectly fine. Think about ~2 days stay in each city, then it should be fine.

Until Venezia you can do all trips with day trains without having to pay for extra reservations. Please have a look at the difference country boards of the forum where you will find most routes described in detail, including tips on how to avoid trains with reservation (eg the expensive Thalys on the Paris - Amsterdam route) or about night trains (with fares and timings).

Venezia - Budapest is best by direct night train, although it is not clear if it keeps running at the moment.

I would strongly recommend to skip Corfu - there are no international rail services to/from Greece at the moment :arr: https://rail.cc/en/new-trains-from-thessaloniki-to-skopje-belgrade-and-sofia/f5508 and you would lose quite some time to get there...not worth it if you have such a tight schedule. Better go from Beograd to Montenegro and continue with a ferry from Bar to Bari in Italy.

Also, I personally do not like the idea of using a plane while on an InterRail trip. ;) If you want a little adventure think about the Civitavecchia (port of Roma) - BCN ferry where you get a 30% discount with your InterRail pass (operated by Grimaldi lines). Or use the Milano - BCN night train which is expensive but a fast connection. :)

Yup, you have to buy a 2nd class youth ticket. :) Certainly worth the money on your trip.
