Hi all,
We're planning on being in Salzburg 1st Aug for 2 nights. We're finding it very difficult to get decent yet cheap accomdation here. All we want is a private room (for 2 people) which is clean and central. Dont want any major luxury. Has anyone any recommendations? Also what is the main central area in Salzburg? Would the altstadt area be better than the area near the train station for example?

Well, the only hostel probably would be :arr: [u]http://heinrichhaus.hostel-salzburg.at/[/u] It is about 3km from the centre.

The main station is not very far from the centre, maybe 15-20 min walk. Centre is around Getreidegasse, Residenzplatz, Mozartplatz,...
Cant really give you recommendations as a friend of mine is studying there so I always stay at his place. ;)

Hi,
We stayed in the Yoho Hostel in Salzburg and it was fantastic. We had a double room, next door to the bathroom, and the bar and restaurant did good food.
