Hi,
Is there a particular route you would recommend between Chur (Switzerland) and Vienna and any specific stop-over ?
Thanks
Christina

Hi!

Well, the obvious route is via Buchs - Innsbruck - Salzburg via the Arlberg route which is quite nice scenery-wise. You can go Chur - Sargans and change there for direct Railjet trains two Vienna which run every two hours. There is also a night train Zürich - Sargans - Wien, have a look at the Swiss country board.

Where are you before Chur? Have you planned on going with Rhätische Bahn/Glacier or Bernina Express? EDIT: Just saw your question in another topic. ;)

Yes - we'll be in Milan and will go to Lugano to catch the bus to Triano to catch the Bernina Express up to Chur. I wanted to go directly to Triano from Milan but it takes 4 + hours with 10 changes, bus tranfers etc ... :((

There is a direct train every two hours Milano Centrale - Tirano, no reservation required, travel time 2h30!

Thanks Flow,

Yes, I realised that ! Will be taking the train from Milano to Tirano and then the Bernina Express to Chur ! And then off to Vienna probably with a stop-over in Salzburg ! :)

Hej,

there is only one Tirano - Chur Bernina Express:

Tirano 1404 - 1827 Chur

That would only leave enough time to get to the Zürich - Wien night train. Or you stay around Chur at leave to Salzburg - Wien the next day.

Alternatively you could also take the Bernina Express to Davos:

Tirano 1422 - 1808 Davos

From Davos you can continue to Klosters - Landquart - Chur or Zürich

The reservation for Bernina Express is 10€ per person. Alternatively you can use regional trains as well - they are not operated with the Bernina Express panoramic cars though.

Thanks. We'll probably spend the night in Chur and leave the next morning for Salzburg ... It's slow travel you know ...
