Hi there,

We have an interrail pass and are planning to travel from Rome (Fiumicino Aeroporto) to Venice (Venezia Santa Lucia) in one day then on from Venice to Florence and then back to Rome all within a 6 day period on a 3 day interrail pass.

We have just found out that we need to reserve a seat on the Rome to Venice trip as it is a EuroStar Italia train - we have yet to look into whether we need to reserve seats on the other journeys. We're a bit confused as we don't know how to do this and where to book these seats or even if we've left it too late!

Is there a website for this? We leave next week and are a bit worried we've left it to late as we've only just found this out!!

Thanks in advance.

Hays

Hi Hays.

1
The InterRail Pass is not valid at the Leonardo Express from Fiumicino Aeroporto to Roma Termini (=main station).

2
Roma - Venice: this trip by Eurostar Italia has a travel time of ~3:30h. Using reservation free Regional and IC trains, the travel time is about 7h. If you give me the time you want to travel, I will search a connection for you without reservation fees.

3
Venice - Florence: you can use free Regional trains on this trip. By Eurostar Italia, the travel time is about 2h. Regional trains: 4h.
Example:
Venezia Santa Lucia dep: 1257 | Regional train - free of supplements
Bologna Centrale arr: 1504

Bologna Centrale dep: 1539 | Regional train - free of supplements
Prato arr: 1649

Prato dep: 1700 | Regional train - free of supplements
Firenze S.M.N. arr: 1722

4
Florence - Rome: the same like above. Eurostar Italia: 1:40h, Regional 3:30h
Example:
Firenze S.M.N. dep: 0913
Roma Termini arr: 1245

5
If you want to use the Eurostar Italia trains, you can book them online and pick the reservations up at train stations (for example all in Rome).
Details about online booking: https://rail.cc/en/italy-train-supplement-online-booking/f2949

And lets hope you bought your official tickets here at our website - to support this answer. Thanks. :)

Peter :)

Thank you very very much, you are a star. We managed to speak to someone who was able to book us tickets on the trains that we needed to be on.

Will definitely recommend you :D

re 1. THIS express train has onyl 1st class and runs direct to stazione termini.
There are also local trains-ev 15 mins, running ''around'' ROma-so to reach termini you need to connect. these trains are ''free'' on IR
