My friends and I are planning on travelling with the 10 day/22 day ticket. My friend just told me there, however, that the ticket only offers a reduced fare in some cases and not free travel.

My question is, if we have an inter-rail ticket, should we have to pay anything extra for our trains? (Not including night trains which I've heard cost extra).

Any help as quickly as possible would be appreciated.

You have to pay for reservations on some express trains.

Exactly what is included and where you need reservations.

It is possible to do the vast majority without reservations but is usually quicker with reservations

Always do it step by step:

1) Check the scheduleshttps://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

2) Compare it to the supplement section: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
3) Check the country topics for supplement free connections and night train information: https://rail.cc/en/countries

Thanks guys, no forguve me for being a bit slow....
We are getting the following trains:

Paris to Amsterdam
Amsterdam to Berlin (night train)
Berlin to Prague
Prague to Krakow (night train)
Krakow to Budapest
Budapest to Ljubljana

Would any of these require booking more than 2 or 3 days in advance? (Trip is from mind July to early August) Would any of them have booking fees/fees not entirely covered by the interrail ticket? How much would these fees be and is there a way to avoid them?

Thanks in advance.

so you do not need a 10 day pass- a 5 day would do-but then you must do it in 10 days (find the night-train rule!)
For the FAST trains (the only ones direct) Par-AMS are Thalys and are VERY expensive in the supplmt-in fact more as a cheap, booked onle, SMILYS ticket would cost (min is 35€single).
I myself wonder if even the 5 day pass would be cost effective-as you can also book f.e. Ams-Ber online for 39/49€all inn. Or use buses: eurolines
Ber-Pra can book, but no need-just like any BR-train.
