Hi,
me and a friend are planning on visiting both cities but we are unsure how to do this! We have 4 days to play with; but we aren't sure how to use them! We are considering staying just outside Venice for 2/3 days and then getting the train to Verona for the day. So a day trip, before making our way from Venice to Switzerland.
So my question is, are the trains frequent and a good service enough to do a day trip to Verona? (We don't mind early mornings/late evenings!) A guidebook says they are every half an hour but is this true, we couldn't find evidence for this on the internet?!
Also, would this journey be included in IR?
Thanks, Sarah

Hi Sarah.
Use the schedule planer for connections:
Maybe you searched for a travel date after the 12th of June - at this date there is the small change in the European train schedules. Not all European railway companies already updated their databases and the Italian one is always late in doing it. But no worries, there wont be big changes. Calculate with the schedules of today.
If you want to save money, avoid in Italy the Eurostar Italia (reservation fee required: EUR 10) and the IC trains with 4 digits (reservation fee required: EUR 10) in their name.
Examples:
Venezia - Verona
Venezia Santa Lucia dep: 0709 | Regional train - free of extra fees
Verona Porta Nuova arr: 0924
Venezia Santa Lucia dep: 0741 | Regional train - free of extra fees
Verona Porta Nuova arr: 0945
Venezia Santa Lucia dep: 1000 | Regional train - free of extra fees
Verona Porta Nuova arr: 1224
Venezia Santa Lucia dep: 1103 | Regional train - free of extra fees
Verona Porta Nuova arr: 1242
Verona - Venezia
Verona Porta Nuova dep: 1918 | Regional train - free of extra fees
Venezia Santa Lucia arr: 2051
Verona Porta Nuova dep: 2218 | Regional train - free of extra fees
Venezia Santa Lucia arr: 2350

Fantastic, thank you so much! The trains did indeed worry and confuse us (!) but that has cleared it up nicely, thank you!
Also, I meant to ask, is visiting Verona for the day wise? In other words, we want to see the main sites, and for example buy the Verona day card we've seen - is a day enough time to see everything without feeling like we've missed lots of things? Obviously, longer would be ideal but are we going to find ourselves stressing about not having enough time, or is a day okay for this? Thanks, Sarah :)

Mmmmh... to be honest: I already stayed in Verona twice, but don't remember anymore. Simply visited too much cities the last years. ;)
Maybe someone else knows more... sorry. Peter :)
