Hi Lewis.
It depends on how long you want to travel. The InterRail Pass is available as:
- 1 months consecutive
- 22 days consecutive
- 15 days consecutive
- 10 travel days in 22 days
- 5 travel days in 10 days
:arr: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-global-pass
If you want to travel one full month the InterRail Global Pass YOUTH - 1 month consecutive is a good deal.
Official InterRail Passes to the official prices are available at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Order 2 or 3 weeks in advance and select the standard shipping option, so the delivery is FREE. :)
I recommend you not to use your InterRail pass for the Eurostar. Buy a normal ticket, try to get a special discount booking in advance, as Eurostar is expensive even having an InterRail Pass: https://rail.cc/en/london-paris-eurostar-train/f1805
Stay some days in Paris and then start interrailing.
On your way back think about a route via the Netherlands: https://rail.cc/en/ferry-netherlands-england/f1659
Here is a step by step guide: https://rail.cc/en/first-time-interrail

Hi Im booking my interrail pass this saturday for the month of JULY its a global one month pass but information on it isn't exactly eveywhere can someone explain it to me because my brothers girlfriend did a 10 in 22 days last year and that pass looked a bit confusing.
For example.
Can i travel on all trains within any country for free including just standard trains?
If I wanted to go from Berlin to Hamburg for the day (it's only a 1 1/2 hour train) then can I do that and travel back on the same pass day?
Do I have to write in pass days on a card ? Or is it just unlimited travel anytime of day anywhere?
How do I buy supplements and how much do they cost? we want to travel mostly by night
We wanted to do at least 10 different capital cities and we are starting in Istanbul is this realistic ?
Thanks for any help

Also, sorry for all the questions. But we'll be travelling for a month so I think I should ask. We plan to see at least 10 capital cities from Istanbul to Amsterdam and while I don't want to spend too much money on things I dont want to have to ration every little thing. Il have around 1300 pounds spending money and half way through il get another 500 pounds so around 1800 in total so is that enough ???

Hi.
Have a look at the step by step guide. It is explaining you a lot:
https://rail.cc/en/first-interrail-tour/f3303
- Can i travel on all trains within any country for free including just standard trains?
You can use the national railway companies of each country taking part on InterRail. Some trains requires a supplement.
Do it like this:
1) Select your travel route.
2) Find trains with the schedule planer: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
3) Compare it to the supplement list: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
4) Check the country topics for supplement free routes and night train information: https://rail.cc/en/countries
- If I wanted to go from Berlin to Hamburg for the day (it's only a 1 1/2 hour train) then can I do that and travel back on the same pass day?
Use as many trains as you want on a travel day. As you have a ONE month Global InterRail Pass, just jump in trains, leave them, cross borders, return the same day, ... :)
- Do I have to write in pass days on a card ? Or is it just unlimited travel anytime of day anywhere?
Unlimited travel. You have an attached sheet where you have to fill in details like:
10:00h Berlin-Hamburg
18:30h Hamburg-Berlin
Very easy.
- How do I buy supplements and how much do they cost? we want to travel mostly by night
See answer above.
Read this topic: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
- We wanted to do at least 10 different capital cities and we are starting in Istanbul is this realistic ?
Yes... realistic with a one month pass.
Did you already thought about the cities you want to see?
And the money should be fine.
Make a calculation per day:
- Food: EUR 8
- Accommodation: EUR 22
- Extras: EUR 5
- Reservation fees (as you don't travel every day let's say in average per day): EUR 3
Total per day: ~ EUR 40
Eastern Europe is much cheaper than Western of course.
So 30 days X EUR 40 = 1200 EUR (~1100 GBP) for ONE month.
You see, you have some money extra for upgrades in hostels or night trains or to go out at night.
I hope this will answer all your questions.
And if you want to support our forum, buy your official InterRail pass to the official price at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you, Peter :)

Thanks thats a great help to me so you think I'll have plenty of money to go around. What do you think is the maximum amount of countries we could see is? We had 13 planned already but we cut it to ten to save time on travel.

In my opinion you have enough money to spent. :)
But it is for you to calculate your personal needs. Everyone is different.
Let me know your route... and then let's see. You can do as well 20 countries in one month... again: it depends on your personality.
Have as well a look at the travel routes board, there you will find examples:

Our basic plan was to go from:
Istanbul - Sofia
Sofia - Bucharest
Bucharest - Budapest
Budapest - Vienna
Vienna - Prague
Prague - Krakow
Krakow - Warsaw
Warsaw - Berlin (A day tip to Hamburg if possible)
Berlin - Munich
Munich - Frankfurt
Frankfurt - Bruges
Bruges - Bruxelles
Bruxelles - Amsterdam
Amsterdam - Home (glasgow by flight)
If we have time we would like to see anywhere else we can but this is what we really hoped for since we already cut out Serbia (Belgrade) and Croatia (Zagreb)

If you like, replace Frankfurt by Cologne.
In Belgium and the Netherlands avoid the expensive THALYS trains, use the free IC trains.
Otherwise it looks good.
Check the country topics, nearly all connections are listed there with details about night trains.

Then you did not ordered your pass here at our partner [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] as delivery is within a maximum of seven business days.
And be sure the information I give you is correct. I am interrailing since 15 years. :)
About suitcase or backpack: as you will only visit cities, a suitcase should be fine. Just pack it with clothes and everything for one week. Test it. When having a suitecase with me, it is 65 litres, but I like to have some extra free space in it.

Is it possible to use the global interrail pass on local transport like short train journeys say from one end of Istanbul to the other ? Or is it just international trains or intercity trains ?

Hi.
InterRail is a product made by the national railway companies of each country taking part.
So usually local transport within cities is not included.
Peter :)
