Hi,

I was hoping someone would know about this Mini fare they use on the trenitalia site.

If I select a mini ticket I can't then pick an accommodation type (4 bed couchette/double seat etc.)for the sleeper train because the fare disappears from the list.

Are there just regular seats as well on these trains, and is this what you get if you go mini?

Thanks

Hi.

You can always select the type of seat/bed bellow (compartment, couchette, sleeper, ...) the fares.
If you select one option and the ticket type MINI Fare disappears in the top, the tickets are sold out or not available for this type of category.
Mini fares are very limited and you are fixed on the train - you can not return the ticket once you bought it.
But it is a good deal to a really good price! :)

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the quick reply, do you know what I'd get if I booked the Mini fare without selecting a seat/bed,

would I just get a regular seat, or are all the seat converted into the couchettes for the night trains

Thanks

Hi.
The ICN should have 2nd class seats ...
But you have to select something: either seat or couchette... for this night train you shouldn't be able to book a Mini-fare without a kind of reservation which you select at the bottom.
Give me the exact travel date, time and route please... :)
Peter :)

Hello,
I have a problem to book MINI-fare tickets for route Rome-Venice for 07-07-2011 (night train). I searched the timetable, choose desired route. Than I had choise of fares (Flex., Base and Mini). I choose Mini... filled all the necessary information in, pressed Continue, but next page said me that seats are unavalable. Why I can choose MINI-fair, but than seats are not available? :'(

I can describe more... as I read some information in the Internet:

... JOURNEY PREFERENCES, is all about seat selection. On our train, it is a Mandatory reservation train and in the next block you can select window, aisle, or middle – based on the train floor plan.
For other types of trains, you have other options in this section. They might include the type of seat or, for overnight journeys, the accommodation in couchette or Wagon Lits. For Couchettes and Wagon Lits, you can – if you prefer – indicate an upper or lower berth or a compartment for say, ladies only. If you’re looking at these overnight options, the icon to the right indicates whether the price and accommodation chosen are available (green) or unavailable (red). In this case you must select another rate or another accommodation.

So I do see a message in green under the Journey Preferences section when I select either the Flexible or Base Fare radio...Seats availability for the selected fare/service When I select the MINI radio button this message disappears (no message). The explanation above from the Ron in Rome website suggests that if there are no seats for the chosen fare and seat selection a red message will appear. So what does it mean when I select MINI and no message appears? Are MINI seats assigned randomly and therefore I can not make a seat selection? I am making reservations for 4 people and certainly we want to sit together. Assuming the missing message means nothing and I select WINDOW will it assign a window seat for all 4 tickets and therefore we would be scattered? Of all the info articles I have read I don't see an explanation for this.
