Hey, me and some friends are doing a trip across Europe from July 6th to August 2nd using interrail
We intend to be arriving in Athens (Piraeus) by ferry at 06:00 on July 11th. Staying in Athens that night and next day (12th) then either travelling to Thessaloniki in the evening of the 12th or morning of the 13th depending on duration and time practicality. However, I am having real trouble trying to find the times for this train link as I can't seem to find the Athens train station that I will be using. I also don't really want to have to pay extortionate supplements.
Could you help me find the link from Athens -> Thessaloniki on this date. (Evening of 12th July or morning of 13th)
Thanks.

Hi.
First: train schedules after the 12th of June aren't online for most of the European countries as for the Little European Change of the Train Schedules at this date.
Please read here:

Second: there are no (or at least very less) trains running.
Please read here:

But I do not recommend to travel Greece by train this summer. Calculate that you have to use buses - which aren't very expensive.

Oh dear, our trip is as follows
Rhodes --> Ferry to Athens (Pireaus) --> Thessaloniki --> Sofia (how are we going to get to Sofia now haha) --> Belgrade --> Budapest --> Vienna --> Prague --> Berlin --> Amsterdam.
Is everywhere else ok for trains?
Can you advise us one what to do? As we are going Rhodes first (flights and accomodation is booked) it would make sense to go to Greece next - so are going to have to reschedule our destinations or how much are we talking on buses?

Everywhere else in Europe the trains are fine. The problems are caused by the economical problems of Greece.
Just think about having the starting date of your InterRail pass when leaving Thessaloniki. So save a bit on your InterRail pass an buy one which is valid for a shorter period.
I just opened a new topic here for the bus transport in Greece, as I think it is important and useful for other travelers as well:
