Hello
We (me and two other girls) are planning our first interrail trip to begin June 3rd- flying to Prague. Our rough route is: Prague>Vienna>Bled>Trieste>Ljubjana>Zagreb>Split>Dubrovnik>Sofia>Thessaloniki>Istanbul
We had hoped to get the ferry from Greece to Italy at the end of our trip but it looks like time wont allow that now. We are very flexible with our route and would love any suggestions of places to put in or take out of our route, or advice on what time would allow. We are thinking of getting a 22 day ticket, spending three days in our first destination before activating the ticket and spending 3 days in our final destination before flying home. We are having difficulty getting flights home to Ireland from our last destination of either Istanbul or Athens (or as above Italy), as they are so expensive so advice on any alternatives here would also be greatly appreciated also.

Prague>Vienna>Bled>Trieste>Ljubjana>Zagreb>Split>Dubrovnik>Sofia>Thessaloniki>Istanbul

We are very new to this planning so all help is welcome :|

Thanks....

Hi.
If you travel down to Istanbul (definitely worth to do) you have either to fly back home from Istanbul or travel back to for example Bratislava (cheap low-cost-airlines starting there).
Forget about Greece this summer!

Hi,
Thanks for your reply Peter. Since we posted last we realised about the Greece situation and have changed our route. Our new route is:

Prague Flying there June 3rd (Spend 3 days there)
Vienna 2 days (activate interrail pass)
Budapest 2 days
Ljubjana 2 days
Trieste I day
Bled 2 days
Croatia islands (Hvar and Korcula)= 1 day each
Dubrovnick/ Split?? 2 days
Ferry to Italy??? 1 day
Naples 2 days
Florence 2 days
Turin 2 days
Bern 2 days
Neuschwanstein 1day (just a day trip)
Salzberg 3 days and fly home.

• We are fairly flexible in the second half of the trip- from Italy on. Do you think we could fit in a couple of more places in Switzerland or Germany perhaps, we haven’t booked our flights home yet either so if there is any suggestions where to finish up they are also welcome.
• We hear that trains have a lot of surcharges in Italy is this true?
• Also we are having difficulty finding ferries from Croatia to Italy. Timetables don’t seem to be on some of the websites. Would we need to book the ferry long in advance ?
• Ferries are not included in the Interrail pass? Because of this we were wondering would we be better off to get the 10 in 22 day pass rather than the 22 day pass even if this means we have to pay for some of the trains in Croatia or Slovenia because we here they are cheap here.

I realise that there are a lot of questions here but once again we are very new to this so all help would be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Maeve.
