Me and 2 friends are looking to inter rail during the month of July. We were looking to get the 1 month pass and visit the cities mentioned starting off in Paris. We would be flying to Paris from Scotland and were wondering if this would be the best option?
Any information would be brilliant :)

Hi!
I would definitely compare prices: plane vs train to get to Paris, I think the InterRail experience is more complete if you start and end your travel with the train as well, instead of going by plane. But I know as well that flying can be cheaper, especially for InterRailers from the UK as you dont get a discount for domestic travelling. :|
Have a look at the ferries linking the UK to mainland Europe :arr: https://rail.cc/blog/from-london-to-amsterdam-with-the-dutchflyer/ :arr: https://rail.cc/blog/london-to-paris-by-eurostar-train-bus-or-ferry/
- On the way from Paris to Madrid maybe think about a stop along the Atlantic; I can highly recommend de Dune de Pyla close to Arcachon; but Biarritz, La Rochelle/Île de Ré could be nice stopovers as well.
- In between Madrid and Roma, you could stop in Barcelona, then go with the Petit Train Jaune :arr: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/ to France and travel along the Mediterranean to Marseille or Nice. Then continue via Genova or Pisa to Roma.
- If you have enough time left, you could make a short trip to Switzerland, going Roma - Milano and then via the route of Bernina Express :arr: https://rail.cc/en/bernina-express/f1749 and continue the next day to München, either via Lindau or Innsbruck
If you want to go to München directly, you could use the direct overnight CNL train :arr: https://rail.cc/en/rome-florence-munich-night-train/f3741
- München - Berlin - Amsterdam is easy, travelling during the day with fast IC/ICE services without mandatory reservation
While travelling in France, Spain and Italy, remember that most long distance trains have compulsory reservation :arr: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
Have also a look here for basic infos :arr: https://rail.cc/en/first-time-interrail
Hope this helps for a good start. :)

i m thinking to make a route like this one (22days) but, i dont think to go to Germany. I wanna see France- Italy- Spain first and then i will go to Amsterdam. I will start and end my journey with plane. Because i live in Turkey and Greece is finished international train routes this year. I want to see a lot of cities in a country. i dont want to make it quick. 7days in france 7 days in italy 6days in spain and 2 days in amsterdam. is that seems possible?

Hi!
Sure, a nice route. But remember that you still have to get there/get back home? Do you want to do that by train or plane? And in France, Spain and Italy you have to take care because most long distance trains need an extra reservation.

PS: Please open a new thread where we can talk about your travel plans separately. Thank you. :)

read the general about this posted so many times. This is different for every country. Also read the tips on how to avoid this-by using local=slower trains, if you want to save.
If you are certain and have preplanned anything-try to do it all at same time when you go buy the ticket.

Hi
I am going to travel around Europe in September. It is going to be the first time that I travel in Europe. I was thinking to follow a route starting in Rome, then Venezia, Munich, Paris and finally Barcelona. I can travel 15 days but I really don't know which one is the best route. I would like to visit the cities that I said. Could you tell me some advises or the best route to go?
Thanks a lot

Hi,
please do open a new topic for your route - it might be confusing if there are two different routes within the same thread. Thank you. :)

Thanks very much, we had planned to add Barcelona and a few other stops in anyway but you've been really helpful. We were planning on getting the train from London to Paris however due to not being able to use the pass in the UK it would be cheaper for us to fly to paris first! Thanks again :)

No problem. Glad we can help. :)
What about getting a ticket for the Eurostar? Can be found quite cheap if you book them well in advance (as with plane tickets..) and it is certainly a nice experience to go through the Chunnel. :)
