Hi,

We want to travel from Neapel to Taormina with the InterCityNotte 1939.

The question, and that's not quiet clear and I haven't found a good explanation: which compartment shoud we reserve?
We're a couple and want to have (if possible) our own room.

So: what is a
2 bed compartment
or a
Double seat compartment

What are the differences? Did anyone here travelled with the night train an can tell us, what is what?

Thank you!

Cheers, Ingo

Hi Ingo!

On this night train, there are two different categories of sleeper accomodation:

2 bed compartment = compartimento 2 letti = WL MU sleeper type :arr: regular sleeping car compartment with three beds, of which only two (upper and lower) are in use, the third bed is folded to the wall
double seat compartment = posto doppio = WL T2s sleeper type :arr: special sleeping car compartment with two beds, smaller than the WL MU sleeper compartment

With InterRail pass 2nd class you can either use 3 bed compartment or double seat compartment; for 2 bed compartment you need a 1st class InterRail pass. If you want your own room you will have to get reservations for the double seat compartment.
