hi,

me and a group of friends are planning on interrailing for a month in summer. We;re planning on going to quite a few countries where the euro isnt the curreny (eg czech republic, serbia, croatia).

i was wondering what the best way to carry money was? By which i mean i do not want to exchange lots of different currencies before i go and have to carry it around with me, especically considering i dont know how much to spend in each place, or how long im staying.

I've looked around at a few cards and i understand that nationwide no longer offers free abroad withdrawals, which is a shame. So i was wonder what, now, is the best card to use abroad, or are there alternatives to debit cards?

thanks for the help

norwich and peteborough will be who i will be using. as long as you make 5 transactions a month their lite current account and debit card offer 0% on all foreign currency transactions inlcuiding cash machines

thats great, thanks for the reply! so i basically just pay the exchange rate with this?

what do they regard as a transaction, is it just any cash withdrawal or puchase. for example could i just buy 5 different things costing 50cents?

thanks

I have applied for it now and it seems great - they use the i think visa exchange rate, not the best but no charges

Card transactions dont count towards the 5 but direct debits in and out do so im just going to set up weekly debits in and a monthly out to make 5 :D

I applied on the phone, really nice guy did the application and i got the forms to sign 2 days later 1st class today.
