Hi!

There is no other passenger train between Fuentes de Onoro and Salamanca than the HOT Lusitania. I wonder what you are doing in Fuentes in the first place?

There is no real alternative than going by Sud Expresso...the supplement for a reclining seat is 7€ which is quite fair for a night train. :)

i really want to go in the light of day :P i'm from porto, portugal. I start my trip on porto so i want to go to Irun to catch the night train to paris there.
Do you know any other way to get to Irun, free and by day?

Hi!

Like I said, on the route Pampilhosa - Fuentes - Salamanca the Surex is the only passenger train, so no alternatives there. :|

What you could do is to go via Vigo - Ourense - Léon, but that wont come cheaper as the Surex:

First, you would have to stay overnight in Vigo, as the first train from Porto arrives too late to catch the connection towards Irun.
Second, you would have to go by two Arco trains (Vigo - Ourense and Ourense - Irun) which cost 6,50€ each. If you go early you could go to Ourense with a MD train but this is still 4€ reservation.
