I always camped in Benelux. I could give you a little info on camping in Luxembourg, Bruxelles, Gent, Rotterdam, Amsterdam.

Maybe have a look at couchsurfing as well?

PS: There is a night train service running in Randstad area in Netherlands, I used this once to sleep but it is not comparable to a regular night train so I would not recommend it 100%... ;)

Hi!

Bruxelles: http://cielouvertcamping.wordpress.com/ Really nice in the middle of the city! :) There is no other campsite in the Bruxelles area so you have to go there... ;)
Amsterdam: I've been to Vliegenbos http://www.vliegenbos.com/ in 2009 which was quite ok. It is a rather classic campsite (compared to others in a*dam) but has an own space for backpackers so it was quite fun still. Supermarket is not too far away and you have a bus running directly to the city (main station). If you dont mind a little walk you can go there by the free ferry from the main station too.
In 2006 I've been to Zeeburg http://www.campingzeeburg.nl/ which is a classic backpacker place, crowded with party atmosphere... :D However, it is quite in the middle of nowhere, you can go there by tram from the main station but then have to walk quite a distance.
Luxembourg: Alzingen http://www.syndicat.lu/ a little bit far from the city but with a good bus connection. Nice small campsite, spent my first InterRail night there. :)
